Opinion Who will win: Hong Kong or China?

God bless all those protesters and good luck to them. I think shit is gonna get really ugly over there.

Americans really do take our freedoms for granted.

China by TKO.

China by whatever they feel like.

Communists don't value human life, except insofar as it provides value to the party, so protests like this are easily expunged. Probably requires jailing forty or fifty thousand people and executing probably only ten thousand or so.

The only chance Hong Kong has is if these protests start garnering support from the mainland population, but that's a long shot. Ultimately, any truly socialist or communist state can't coexist with the kind of freedoms Hong Kong is demanding.

China and it's going to be very ugly. A lot of people are about to die :(

China will win, because no one stands up to them when they brutalize their citizens. China has put Uygurs in concentration camps, and the world is essentially meh. When the Trump admin passed a motion condemning the Chinese behavior, the Chinese got a lot of Muslim nations to defend China's actions.

The world has essentially given China a pass to do whatever it wants. American corporate interests will make sure populist opinion never gets to the point that our politicians are forced to take a stand against China.

It's way too late to do anything about China.

Hong Kong is part of China.

This is like asking:

Who will win, California or the USA?

HK will always be the peoples champ. The irony is delicious.

No, it isn't. It'd be more akin to who would win Puerto Rico or the US, if the US were trying to strip Puerto Ricans of civil rights.

Concentration camp in Xinziang ?
May you elaborate a bit cause i lived in kashi 15 years ago and though i have heard bad shit, never to that extent.

China by whatever it wants.

Literally they could shut off Hong Kong's food, electricity and water supply tomorrow. You cannot fly to Hong Kong without entering Chinese airspace. The matter is whether it's worth it to CCP to force the issue, invoking international attention and loss of business.

HK is gone, man. Gone.

Forced detention of Uyghurs into 're-education' camps , as punishment for practicing their culture. The forced removal of Uyghur children to be indoctrinated into Han Chinese culture.

noun
a guarded compound for the detention or imprisonment of aliens, members of ethnic minorities, political opponents, etc., especially any of the camps established by the Nazis prior to and during World War II for the confinement and persecution of prisoners

--

Leaked documents detail for the first time China's systematic brainwashing of hundreds of thousands of Muslims in a network of high-security prison camps.

The Chinese government has consistently claimed the camps in the far western Xinjiang region offer voluntary education and training.

But official documents, seen by BBC Panorama, show how inmates are locked up, indoctrinated and punished.
