Since the rise of Cain/Junior into title contention & becoming champs, the bona fide quality of having 6-7 straight wins in a row in the UFC HW div has all but disappeared.

I doubt we will ever see this kind of quality in contenders in the HW div for a looong time & so the UFC have to be extremely careful in how they build up their potential contenders in this div.

As far as I'm aware, the only HW on a 3 fight win streak so far is Soa Palelei (originally listed Ovince St. Preux before realising he was a LHW, so it must be true that there is only 1 HW on a 3 fight win streak?)
On top of that, no top 10 HW's are on a decent win streak (apart from Werdum of course)

I feel as though Palelei may fight the winner of Schaub/Arlovski or Miocic/Maldonado, with the winner extending their streak to 3-4 until fighting at least one top 10 opponent before getting a title shot, extending their streak to 4-5 in a row & finally we may be seeing a legit HW contender.

What is the possibility of this outcome?
Who wants to bet that whoever's on a 4 fight win streak will absolutely blow it against their first top 10 opponent?

    Opinions/Thoughts ?

Ovince St Preux is a LHW.

BTW Fabricio Werdum is a very legit contender.

For starters, St. Preux is 205.

Werdum is next for sure. After that, Nelson, Overeem, Stipe, Schaub, Barnett... Christ! Just about every heavyweight is two solid finishes away from a title shot.

    I hear what you're saying.
Now out of all u mentioned (apart from Werdum) don't u feel as though having just 3-4 wins in a row before becoming a title contender no way near compares to the almost invincible mystical aura that Cain/Junior had on their 6-7 streak wins before getting a title shot?

It's tough to get a 6-7 fight win streak at HW. It's possible especially for guys who aren't already established like Cain and Jr were. Once established you fight top competition all the time making streaks harder to come by. That's why having 5 title defenses is son damn impressive.

    Soa should fight Barnett IMO
    BF vs overeem 2
    Miocic vs JDS
    Hunt/Nelson
    Schaub/pitbull vs meathead/Struve

who cares? Cain will be a champ for a long time until he gets old and a young contender comes and beat his old ass.
