I’m from London, but my Irish heritage taught me not to ever proactively cheer for Englishmen lol.

That said, if you’re a great fighter, I’m on the train, I don’t just innately support you due to nationality (I also hate Conor lol).

All that said, who was the last Heavyweight who hadn’t yet “gathered the resume”, but you just “knew” he was the real day from a small sample size - like Aspinall.

Maybe people don’t agree with me, but I legit walked away from the Volkov performance thinking (he could beat Francis and Cyril right now).

Am I alone? He’s the real deal right?

Who else made us feel like this? Cain?

Brock. Fought for the belt in his 3rd UFC fight....

I saw Cyril throw a jab and duck a punch.

Immediately

Eye test? Uh…Ngannou??
Interesting mention.

See I disagree. Nobody thought this dude was going to be a world champion after stopping a few of the early names. To me, he looked like a typical musclebound brawler, who when grappled would look like a fool. Stipe proved that hypothesis right, and almost every other opponent gave him the exact fight he wanted (Jairzinho, Overeem and Blaydes all fought like absolute fools).

Nobody saw Ngannou improving to the level he has to compete with Miocic in the grappling and actually outgrapple Gane.

I don’t think many people thought Ngannou was the real deal after a few KO’s. That means that you’d have thought the same from Johnny Walker lol.

I felt this way about Tom after his first 3 fights. I just knew he was gonna beat Uber Volkov.

I'm not convinced Tom has passed this eye test you speak of.

I'll be quite impressed if he gets past Blaydes.

The Volkov win was amazing. He absolutley tore through the guy without breakin a sweat. His ability to slip punches is the greatest ive ever seen from a HW

Also has great timing and instincts to go for the takedown

Yep he seems like a smart and crafty fighter but I don't know if he can overcome the kind of brute force Blaydes possess.

That being said, Blaydes has found ways to lose (beating up Lewis on the feet and then for some reason telegraphing a takedown)... so maybe fight IQ will be the difference.

Doesn’t look unbeatable, but clearly has the skills to be in the top 5. Rare to see such a well-rounded heavyweight

But also he is beating these guys like they are light sparring partners. He is lookin at them like LOL when they try to beat him.

Only Cyril Gane seems to be close to this as far as the younger breed but GOATspinall always gets the finish
