What do you think is the worst case of a fighter underestimating their opponent?

Not the biggest shock or surprise win. But one where a fighter got run over because they got their opponent completely wrong. Unless there was an injury or bad camp, I'd go for Pena over Nunes.

Werdum was a win away from the title shot. He was matched up against an unknown Brazilian fighter with no Wikipedia page but a great head of hair. So he decided to bulk up in anticipation of the title shot, likely against Brock. And by bulking I mean he got fat

Rockhold vs Bisping in the rematch

Rockhold doesn't lose to guys he beat easily before, like Bisping, because he's a samurai, and he can conceive, believe and achieve.

For me.... I'll never forget when Jake Ellenburger said "karate is cute, my daughter does Karate" before getting absolutely obliterated by Thompson.

Then there's Costa vs Adesanya. One of the worst cases of a fighter thinking he would steamroll a vastly superior opponent. No excuses, Paulo is just a dumb guy. And a lot of Sherdoggers fell for it too.

There were also a few times Overeem got beat by somewhat lesser competition because he was just cocky as shit. He dropped one to Travis Browne and Big Foot. Those were fights he could have won.

To be fair Ellenberger did drop him before that and was a big underdog. Can you really underestimate someone when you know the majority of people don’t even think you’ll win?
