Who truly deserves the 185 title shot

Brunson:
Pros: 5 fight win streak
Cons: Looks like the most vulnerable out of the 3 (stunned by holland), Dominated by Adesanya
Cannonier:
Pros: Only one to not face Adesanya
Cons: Coming off a loss with whittaker, and a win from 1-4 Gastelum
Vettori:
Pros: 2 fights with Adesanya, beat a Costa that outweighed him by 12-17 pounds depending who you ask
Cons: 2 losses with adesanya, really needs one more fight for the title shot.

Imo,
if brunson wins, brunson gets title shot
otherwise cannonier vs vettori fight it out.
Personally I have vettori beating cannonier to set up the trilogy with adesanya
 
Of those three right now, Brunson. If Jared beats Brunson then he should get the title shot. Vettori probably needs one or two more wins
 
Why would Marvin get another title shot?

He has two losses to the reigning champion and did not manage to win a round on a single judges scorecard in his title shot 4 months ago?.

If Glover Teixeira has to wait 7.5 years for a second title shot, shouldn't Marvin have to wait at least that long?
 
Bobby Knuckles or Cannonier. Maybe wait for Rockhold or Strickland to put together some wins. New blood like Till, Holland and Edmen need to climb again.

Because he beat a dangerous former contender while being outweighed an entire weight class, took adesanya to cards twice without suffering damage and even won fight 1 according to a judge.
Lemme flip it, what has cannonier done?
Lost to whittaker, beat a 1-4 gastelum.
And brunson got dominated harder by adesanya than even costa who is rightfully memed.

I don't think vettori deserves a title shot now, but he should be one fight away from one.

I don't think the fans will be interested in seeing him in another title fight with Israel Adesanya for at least 7.5 years, like Glover Texeira, so if Marvin is truly dedicated to the sport as he claims he is then waiting that long should be no problem?

He didn't manage to win a single round on a single judges scorecard. Even Masvidal managed to steal one round on one judges scorecard against Usman. If Marvin cannot win a single round on even one scorecard he may just not be championship quality.

That is fine though because the sport is built around tough gatekeepers like Marvin.
 
TUF situation because Marvin is most deserving but is not compelling. I’ll be bummed if Cannonier never gets a shot. He basically earned one a few years ago but lost it due to an injury. It would probably be fireworks too.

so you'd rather see brunson who got ktfoed by izzy in round 1 rather than marvin who went for a long run after the fight?

Then why are you worried about the next one? We don’t even know who the champion will be. That may definitely affect who is next.

People so busy looking to the future, you don’t enjoy the present.

Bad situation for cannonier, but i don't want to see the equivalent of khabib vs the ferguson gaethje destroyed because that would not be fun. Personally I have marvin and Cannonier as 3a and 3b below whittaker and adesanya.

I think marvin mention his not looking for title match any time soon.

I'm asking this because I enjoyed the vettori costa fight and I was very impressed with his performance against a much bigger guy. I'll definetely enjoy the adesanya whittaker fight, but at the present, I need to wait a week for ufc 267 and I still have mma on my mind so I guess I'm just speculating.

After seeing how great Marvin fought at LHW I don't think its fair to make his fans watch him drain himself down to MW again.

Marvin's fight weight was actually 208 according to Dana which is about how much he usually weighs for mw at fight night.
