International Who think Cuba is the fault of the US?

Who is (mostly) to blame for Cuba's present dire condition?

If the embargo was lifted tomorrow it would still be a crooked dictatorship

Don't know how to make a poll, so maybe a mod can help @Madmick . What's the split on whether the failures of Cuba are the fault of the totalitarian communist regime, the fault of the US, or there's no fault and those Cubans just don't know how good they have it?

The move now seems to be blaming the US for the abysmal failure of the communist dictatorship in Cuba for not propping up the Castro's slave plantation, from the same people who supported Chavez and claimed tbe US is at fault for that, and also claime "I'm not talking about Cuba, we should be like Sweden, even though I don't know shit about Sweden ".

Let's get on record here.

No it has nothing to do with the US. Unless you're an idiot

It’s funny how people will post articles that estimate lost money Cuba has suffered due to the embargo but have never considered how much money Cuba has lost when they stole all the businesses and property of the country. I mean, when they nationalized everything.

You supposed democratic socialists don’t have to defend Cuba. You guys supposedly aren’t communists, so you don’t have to white knight a bunch of thieves.

Stop the embargo and using American tax payers money to fund opposition groups and find out.

I don't think the 60 year US embargo helps.

I mean is this not what we intended to do by embargoing them?

Why is there no option for both?

If your form of government and society isn't able to stand on its own and requires the support of other countries in order to make good on its promises to it's citizens then your form of government is inherently flawed.

i mean, name one time the USA had anything to do with it's neighbors in the south. /s

Never, USA never did anything to Cuba they just completely ignored it... Similair to the Middle East situation, Balkans, Philliphines, Korea, Vietnam, Lebanon, hell USA is rather known for ignoring stuff like this idk why people think US had anything to do with it...

tfw your Russian and Venezuelan sugar daddies aren’t around anymore to prop up your “economy” :(

Let's not forget,

Professor claims China has people in America's 'core inner circle' (nypost.com)

“I’m going to throw out something maybe a little bit explosive here. It’s just because we have people at the top. We have our old friends who are at the top of America’s core inner circle of power and influence,” the top Chinese political scientist continued.

Foreign policy will be affected.

They don't have many freedoms in these socialist countries. When the government takes over more, they also take away your freedoms. Free speech, 2nd Amendment, right to peaceful assembly, you don't have as many individual freedoms in socialist countries.

And I think the USA is quickly headed there.

Rubbish. I spent nearly 2 decades living and working in these countries. My wife is from one of them. Life in those countries is incredibly similar to the US. Aside from the accents, architecture, and the fact that there are incredibly few guns, most cities in the UK and Ireland could pass for US cities.

People peacefully assemble in those places all the time. It's just harder for them to unpeacefully assemble. Which is not bad. They have made a conscious choice, with the support of their people, to limit gun freedoms so they could live without gun violence and gun deaths. I think you will find that swap gives just as much, perhaps even more freedom than it takes away. You understand the murder and violent crime rates in those countries are a small fraction of here, right?

Aside from the gun issue in some of those places, the fundamental difference between those places and here is those places take a little more from everyone, and a lot more from the very wealthy, to provide much stronger social supports for everyone. Which usually leads to a higher overall quality of life.

Venezuelans regret gun ban, 'a declaration of war against an unarmed population' | Fox News
As Venezuela continues to crumble under the socialist dictatorship of President Nicolas Maduro, some are expressing words of warning – and resentment – against a six-year-old gun control bill that stripped citizens of their weapons.

“Guns would have served as a vital pillar to remaining a free people, or at least able to put up a fight,” Javier Vanegas, 28, a Venezuelan teacher of English now exiled in Ecuador, told Fox News. “The government security forces, at the beginning of this debacle, knew they had no real opposition to their force. Once things were this bad, it was a clear declaration of war against an unarmed population.”

I'm surprised none of our politicians have claimed that this is the fault of Finland.
Most insiders know it was the finnish psy op saunas for sanity that really pushed cuba over the edge :D

Also poll needs option d)It was a combination.

If you don´t allow your own citizens to come and go just to keep a fake regime nobody can be blamed, not even the US. And lets not forget that they tried to place missiles in Cuba not so long ago.

I wish Cubans in exile would arm the population in Cuba for a quick coup.
