I have no idea how someone like Pulev, Chagaev, Charr, etc. make it far in the fight game. They're horrible to watch and I think their size intimidates their opponents more than anything else. I don't know why their opponents don't just wail into them because these guys aren't even big punchers. It almost seems like a song and dance where the more popular and heralded fighter controls the pace of the action and the opponent just gives in. It's almost as if he is hypnotized and gives the more famous fighter more respect and credit than he actually deserves based on his skills. This makes me believe that the best connected fighters are the ones that get all of these opportunities and easy roads paved for them because I refuse to believe that these are the best heavyweight boxers out there. This often leads me to believe that much of boxing is fixed. Boxing, especially the heavyweight division, reminds me of the music industry where talent and skill alone isn't what brings you to the top. The connections, record companies, etc. is what brings you to the forefront and keeps you there and paves an easy road for you. The best musicians are probably overlooked and not given an opportunity through management, etc. and this leads me to believe that boxers are the same. Maybe boxers are chosen based on how they can handle the limelight and attention? The last thing boxing probably needs for is image is another Mike Tyson type that is running around causing mayhem so they choose these Europeans that are well-adjusted and nurture and mold them into paper champions.
