Good times... certainly questionable times but interesting times none-the-less...

What do you think of when you think of Rio Heroes?

Hell yeah I Remember Rio Heroes. Yeah it was pretty shady, but I love one night tournaments so I was so fucking in. There were a few decent fighters on those shows as well. Established Brazilian MMA veterans.

Me, I remember and I miss it.
I'm not trying to sound like a sadist but I think there's a place for NHB fighting in today's MMA.

It's a different dynamic to what we see in the UFC and Bellator.

Fighters fight completely differently.

Wasn't it supposed to be coming back as "Brasil heroes"?
What happened to that?

Was that the one with the shoddy "cage" and no gloves and true vale tudo rules? That was a good time.

All I recall is a young Thiago Santos, a dude folding after getting headbutted and a woman beating the shit out of a man.

their DJ spun the best fight muzaks (and had a good sense of humour)

also,

rio heroes never die

Half the time it looked like the ring girls were scared for their lives. That one headbutt knockout was amazing. The man vs. woman fight was something else.

I agree.

I think of Ediane Gomes beating up a dude when I think of Rio Heroes.

Loved it. Live, Vale Tudo tournaments in someone's basement. There was some real talented fighters as well.

It was awesome. Exciting fights that seemed more "real." My favorite guy was Pedro "Stone Hands" Santos.

Didn't Sherdog used to stream it? Speaking of, when was the last time Sherdog streamed a card? I never watched Rio Heroes besides a few clips because it didn't interest me.

Are there current orgs that are similar ? It used to be hard to watch, but I really appreciate those bare knuckle fights...either bareknuckle boxing or vale tudo. They really are a different breed of tough, like the pride fc days. People fighting anyone at any weight, where people now are more interested in money and pull out due to injuries every 5 minutes.
