Gastelum is an exciting and compelling match up for both Whittaker and Romero.

Let's not forget, Whittaker turned down Gastelum which is how Whittaker got paired up with Luke before being replaced by Romero. Iirc they said the combination of his slick boxing, speed, and wrestling ability was going to be a serious challenge for Whittaker. Very interesting to hear them be honest about it.

Gastelum could very well be MW champ in the next 6 to 9 months and I don't think anyone is considering it.

Weidman may be more marketable but theres more to it than that.

Gastelum beat the former champion Bisping with a very impressive knockout, that is definitely a good win.
Jacare via decision albeit split is still seen as a very good win.

Weidman has lost 3 of last 4.
He just needs to get back active and get another solid win first.
