Who is MMA’s Roy Jones Jr?

Actually a very good comparison. He relied on his speed and his technique especially off of his back was lacking. I always thought he could lose to Bigfoot Silva because his guard could be passed and he had no escape from mount besides explosively bucking you off

Calzaghe beats any version of RJJ.

Lol prime Roy Jones Jr. was unstoppable, prime vs prime he is one of the best ever. Calzaghe couldn't touch prIme RJJ, he wouldn’t know what was coming and would get dummied.

Here's Calzaghe's equivalent in mma since they both like to slap people like little girls

Silva was the closest

Anderson is as close as we have had to an RJJ in MMA but the main difference was that RJJ was doing that against high level strikers and Anderson was doing it against guys with generally very low level striking.

Silva and McGregor come the closest.

They both have fast hands and crazy KO ability, and they both finish the vast majority of their opponents and usually with ease. They also have a habit of clowning their opponents during the fight like Roy Jones did, too (that thing Conor does where he stands in front of an opponent with his hands behind his back is something that Roy specifically liked to do.)

obviously forrest griffin... do you even have to ask bruh?

Why has no one said yoel.
Anderson Silva is close but the athleticism is different. Although Silva was ko’ing people in the stupidest ways possible. Up elbows and front kicks

He just wasn’t. I’m not saying he had no skill but you would never put him on a list of the most technical boxers.

Correct once he lost his athleticism he lost his effectiveness. He wasn't a great technical boxer. Look at the difference between him and Duran, Duran was winning miles above his natural weight on his skills long past his physical prime.

Jones also used steroids, maybe anderson silva.

The truth is that Prime RJJ is the GOAT of all of combat sports. There is no MMA RJJ and the sport will need to be around much longer to esatablish one. Prime RJJ is the GOAT of a sport that established itself for hundreds of years.

He went nearly 50 fights without losing a single round, schooling the likes of greats like James Toney and Bernard Hopkins. Dominating, clowning and destroying his opponents so badly they didn't even look like they belonged in the same sport from middleweight all the up to heavyweight.

There are other fighters with arguably better "resumes" and "accomplishments", but nobody else was as gifted and dominant in their prime.

If you took all the greatest fighters in boxing history and you somehow made them all the same size, prime Roy would blow through all of them.
