what I mean by that is supremely talented and athletic individuals, who weren’t technically sound, and their success dropped off immensely as they aged My vote back in the day was Kid Yamamoto but things may have changed in MMA Kid came from a wrestling background and was set to represent Japan in the Olympics and he had some of the fastest hands and best KO power MMA has ever seen. He wasn’t a technical stand up fighter but his power and speed were so great that he was laying everyone out and even did some K-1 matches (doing terribly but they matched him against the top kickboxers of the day who were also much bigger than he was) Unfortunately he suffered an elbow injury in preparation of his Olympic run and he was never the same. He was already aging in his early 30s as a natural 135lb fighter, though fighting well above that. He never had that speed again and his technique wasn’t enough to keep him in the game. I also think MMA just passed him by, with people watching more fight tape and game planning better. So did MMA ever have an equivalent?
