Here is my analysis:
Gerald Meerschert is 32 years old, almost 33 years old. Allegedly 6'1 with an allegedly 77 inch reach, he trains out of Duke Roufus' gym. He is a blackbelt is "kickboxing" apparently, and a blackbelt in BJJ. That doesn't mean much to me.
In the regional scene he amassed a 25-8 record, splitting 1-1 with Sam Alvey notably. He has a ton of ~regional pro fights, 33.
He made it into the UFC in 2016, beating two guys I've never heard of then getting KO'd by Thiago Santos. Then beat Eric Spicely and a guy I've never heard of, then lost to Jack Hermansson and Derek Holland by split decision. Then beat another guy I've barely heard of, then lost to Eryk Anders? by split. Then beat Derron Winn, then got KO'd by Henisch.
So to break it down succinctly: He's a journeyman. His best win is either Sam Alvey 10 years ago on the regional scene, Eric Spicely, or an inflated 155er Deron Winn fighting at 185. He has been finished by anyone we'd consider good, and he has lost to some no name level guys in the UFC. He's 6-5 in the UFC.
This is pretty much the perfect matchup for Khazmat. If Hazmat can't beat Meerkat then he is a hype job very likely who just looked great against cans. If he destroys Mererschaert then that kind of puts up in the company of Santos/Henisich/Hermansson as the only ones to do it in the UFC, therefore proving Khazmat will likely be a top 5-10 guy very soon.
