No. Stamina can be more easily trained to very high levels exceeding those required by soccer players (not the same as Olympic-class endurance sport athletes).Stamina is athleticism.
Sure, guys like LeBron James and Cam Newton could greatly improve their endurance through training and nutrition, but they're never going to be Hicham El Guerrouj anymore than he's ever going to be them.
Soccer fans also tend to underestimate the conditional excellence of NBA players. The primary reason most soccer players have better endurance is due to a lower mass. When this is equalized, their advantage is almost entirely neutralized. For example, Rip Hamilton, who used to run an average of ~5 1/2 miles per game, ran sub-5 minute mile in high school. Allen Iverson allegedly broke the Philadelphia 76ers training camp record with a 4:42 mile. Dan Majerle, according to his own Central Michigan college teammates, ran a 4:35 mile back in the 80's. This is a man who is 6'6" tall and weighed 223 lbs in the NBA (1.98m, 101.2kg).
They're utter freaks: quicker, faster, more agile, more powerful, stronger, taller, heavier, with greater reach and bigger hands. They're athletically superior in virtually every possible way to soccer's best.
