Henderson and Belfort are widely considered the two best wins of the best fighter - certainly the best finisher - of all time

Who is the #3 best opponent in Silva's career?

#3 Griffin - huge LHW who used to step into the cage at 230lbs. Silva joined UFC as a WW. Underrated in sherdog

#4 Sonnen - the enhanced Chael who took 5 rounds from Silva and dominated top MWs is one of the best MMA wresters ever at MW. Full of people more aware of his talk or Ls out his prime than his evolution in BJJ and kickboxing through his career

#5 Franklin - MW champion when WW Silva arrived from "where competition is easier" and the most popular pick in sherdog. Solid case for #3 imo even if he loses to the bigger Griffin.

#6 Horn - in the middle of a 31 - 3 MW-HW run conpetitive losses TO Arona, Liddel and Sobral. Finished Sonnen 3 times in that span. Maybe the most underrared masterclass in Silva's preUFC career.

#7 Okami - arguably the best of the many top WW-MWs that Silva beat in his career. Did Matrix twice on him.

#8 Marquardt - the best KO HL out of everyone in this list by a wide margin. Very highly regarded especially by fellow top fighters, training partners and coaches.

#9 Maia - arguably the best p4p fighter in this list but Silva didnt really fought him at this peak. Still a great win but the lackluster perfomance makes it hard to pick this one.

#10 Sakurai - one of the best lightweight sized fighters at the time. Despite his skill, probably an easier day in the office with him than with a huge 205lber or a juiced 185lber.

#11 Newton - rather a case for #3 best finish to be fair. Top WW from back in the day though

#12 Murray - classic in London against the local toughest badass

NC - Nick Diaz - a case for #3 best P4p fighter in this list imo just like Maia, but even more undersized

Could Derek Brunson beat everyone listed?

Unpopular opinion: Sakurai was a better win than Belfort

Sakurai was top 3 P4P when Anderson beat him and that win made Anderson the de facto #1 WW in the world

Gotta go with Forrest. He was the number 2 LHW in the world and fresh off dropping the belt in a fight he was winning on points before getting caught.

Forrest... at the time just had beat #1 Shogun and then #1 Rampage... losing the belt to Rashad after winning the first 2 rounds... *** and Anderson put that Matrix on that ass...

I'd favour Griffin and Sonnen, and maybe Maia and Okami to beat Franklin but he has a case.
Such a likeable dude and great fighter but pretty overrated in sherdog imo

Rankings are just a reference, but pretty weak and especially back in the day. Kenji Kawaguchi was "#1 P4P" btw...and Semmy Shilt or Kondo not that long before Sakurai.

Anyways, what I meant in the OP is that I ask for caliber of opponent, rather than who was the greater fighter p4p.
Sakurai was a natural LW, he is a hardly a tougher opponent than Griffin or Sonnen when Silva beat them.

For me - yes. Henderson and Belfort were both great wins, and possibly even superior fighters to Chael. However - I think that the Chael wins were the highlight of Anderson's career. Showed him battling adversity and also were massive PPV's.

And Chael at that time was a bulldozer, running throw Bisping, Okami, and Marquardt

You have a point but I dont think Sonnen was ever tougher competition than Henderson, who has a solid case for #2 best MW ever imo
I'd favour Dan to also beat Okami, Marquard or Miller, maybe by finish. Did decapitate Bisping, who in my opinion beat Sonnen btw.

Educae yourself. I just wrote an essay in the OP for you for free.
Hard to find a better top15 wins list in mma history. Let alone if we look at actual finishes.

@dildos is one of the biggest Anderson haters on Sherdog. Don’t expect a genuine answer from him
