Who here has never watched UFC 1

I borrowed the DVD from the library and they had so much time for talking when they could have shown the other bouts that went quick.

I actually somewhat watched it from start to finish when it first aired on PPV. My next door neighbor who my parents were very good friends with would always invite us over to watch Boxing PPV's and the same thing happened with UFC 1. I was 9 when it aired and vaguely remember the night. The one thing I do remember vividly is when Gerard Gordeau kicked Teila Tuli right in the face when Tuli tried to take Gerard down and ended up falling against the fence. I didn't know til I got into MMA in the early 00's that the kick caused one of Teila's teeth to get lodged in Gerard's foot and another went flying into the stands.

I was there live and started the woo chants that day.

True story.

Followed MMA since I watched UFC 2 in 1997. The video of UFC 1 had been stolen from the store. I have never seen it.

My interest in MMA pre-dates UFC 1. When generic titles like "No holds barred battle cage warriors" was a thing.

My cable provider did not have it available to order, so I had to wait until I found a bootleg vhs of it. Saw UFC 2 on ppv.
Still annoys me that there were other fights on the card that were not televised. Watched all of them up to ultimate ultimate, then lost interest for a few years until I heard about Royce losing in Japan and ‘pride’.

Had to go next to the “porn closet” at the local video cassette rental store. It was next to the Faces of Death sequels.

Double stacked a buddies VCR and dubbed UFC 1-4 on blank tapes, and thus began my own illegal streaming

I technically had Fight Pass in the 90’s.....

Do any videos from this era survive, or is it all oral history from people who saw pre UFC 1 stuff live?

I know there's a tiny bit of Vale Tudo footage, Lebell's fight with Savage, and some footage of the Tough Guy competitions from the early 80s still in existence. But beyond that I didn't know of much.

@ ADD-stricken millennial piss-ants

I only watched 1 of the super old ones

Been meaning to watch 2, 3 etc

Nevet got around to it

Also, I didn't see the first UFC event until college, when I ruthlessly abused the interlibrary loan system to order the first nine or ten events.

My first exposure to MMA was in middle or high school, watching one of the Lindland/Baroni fights. It came up at random while I was channel surfing at a friend's house. I thought the idea of martial arts disciplines facing off against each other was awesome, and wondered briefly whether it could possibly be real. Though I unfortunately didn't understand much of what was going on at the time -- I was expecting something out of a kung fu movie.

I would have become hooked eventually even without that stroke of good luck, but I'm glad it came a little early so I could follow Pride FC online. (And picked up that cool PS2 Pride game.)

Was looking forward to bareknuckle boxing..But the 6 year old in me lost interest real quick when I saw the guys who were in the same sort of shape my dad and uncles were in just grapplefucking

Man I rented that from block buster. I also own the vhs 1-5 set

I was 5/6 years old watching UFC 1 2 and 3 on vhs. Shit was amazing
