It shows the strength of the MW because apparently, being Andersons sloppy seconds is all it takes to earn a title shot at LHW.
Because they're fighting in two different weigt classes...
Vitor was a former HW, and Hendo has fought at HW on more than one ocasion. Do you expect Cain and Anderson to also have common opponents?
Champs from different weight classes having common opponents is an anomaly.
There's more to the size of a fighter than height.
Anyway... You're basing your whole argument on a few things. That Shogun could move down and that he's as big as Anderson.
"I would fight Anderson, yes. But at 205lbs, I cannot go to 185lbs."
You want to guess who said this?
Hint: The person who said it would throw away the hypothetical scenario you just pulled out of your ass.
Yeah... that's what you said, which opposed to what I said isn't something everyone agrees with.
Andersons Sloppy seconds ???
Come on kid, Vitor and Henderson were beaten by fighters before Silva. How that even correlates to the MW division being strong is beyond me but its your fantasy.
You are trying to hard to make MW division look better then what it is. Its not the strongest in the UFC but I guess this helps you project it as if it is.
Lets not go crazy, they cant be silvas sloppy seconds since they were someones first well before Silva joined the UFC and had a winning record. Also Cheal and Vitor didn't get a fight at LHW with Jones because they lost to Silva, Silva had nothing to do with it.
Vitor stepped in since no other LHW wanted to fight Jones on 3 weeks notice and Cheal is doing tuff with Jones because of ratings.
It has nothing to do with Silva nor are those fighters sloppy seconds since Silva was not the first to beat both guys. How Silva beating them somehow makes the MW division look great is beyond me but that is your fantasy. Like I said this has nothing to do with Silva as a fighter just resumes.
You say champs from different weight classes fighting similar opponents is an anomaly, no its not, its common. It was done in pride and LHW's and HW's as well as LHW's and MW champions did have common opponents.
Hendo, Wanderli and Fedor all had common opponents with themselves and other champions.
In terms of shogun, there is indeed more size to a fighter then height but Machida, Shogun and Rashad are all similar in size to Silva.
Silva is a big MW, couture stated he didn't know how Silva made MW and this is from a fighter. Lets not kid ourselves Silva is a decent sized MW.
Shogun is no larger then Silva, Machida or Rashad and they can make MW, whether or not they want to cut to make MW is on them.
Strength of schedule is strength of schedule and it is what it is, in terms of who has fought the better competition its subjective to some and apparent to others.
Shalom.
