Who has rolled with a girl before?

Name calling, dismissing content without addressing arguments, indignation, shaming, etc.

Not one logical argument, you say it has no merit but you can't say why.

Run of the mill nonsense.

Nobody cares how "shocked" you are, the truth is shocking, time to get over it and use your brain for something other than "Heefer".

As I mentioned before, nothing you've said demands a serious response. It would be akin arguing with a racialist about the supposed superiority of the white race. The viewpoint is nonsense, it shows a deep inability of the racist to reason, and usually the racist is a grade-A dick.

It's called capitalism.

Not really, since government and corps that do business with them have quotas for women and those tend to be high paying jobs.

More like fascism or communism.

Would not happen in a free market.

I like how you implied I was a racist for saying women don't deserve to take over BJJ.

Very reasonable.

Out of curiosity, what exactly has changed? Do we do different warm-ups now that we have woman? No, we drill and spar all the same. Women have hardly changed anything up - there are always going to be smaller or lesser skilled practitioners in the gym that people with more experience or size have to go a little easier on. Because, at the end of the day, remember there is likely someone in the class who is going easy on you too.

Stop thinking solely in terms of men or women. Not all men are related to each other and none of them, other than the original Gracies, invented BJJ. They have as much claim as to BJJ being "their" sport as a female member has as long as she is paying her club fees.

If you have to invent something in order to participate in it, most of us would still be banging rocks together for our hobby.

Clear enough?

There's nothing wrong with women being in the gym, but I don't want to hear that I have to be more sensitive, use different techniques or not tell this joke or that thing. You can already see that is coming with these dumb hour long videos about how to roll with women, how to use a different arm bar so you don't touch her boobs, etc.

I tolerate women in the gym fine but it's not doing me much good rolling with them. If I beat her I only beat a girl, if I lost to her I lost to a girl mostly likely because I was trying not to hurt her and my coach is rolling his eyes. Of course if I hurt her she complains about that.

So obviously I'm not in the mood to hear about what I need to do to be a better BJJ white knight. I don't really GAF.

I suspect I am crazy for being in this thread again but.... just want to say wow did the scope of thew question expand from rolling with girls to the government being part of a non-capitalistic conspiracy to put women in places of power.

Back to the more basic women in BJJ - the gym owners are letting women join BJJ classes since women are paying for these classes and the gym owner would like to make a profit. Plus, women also might bring their kids along allowing for the gym owner to create that coveted cash cow - the kids class. And, yes, having a more family oriented gym will change the type of humor and behavior that the gym owner wants to see on the mats. And so on...

And, since the gym owners want BJJ to appeal to the largest assortment of people (not just hardcore practitioners) it does seem that over the years lots of gyms have lost their more brutal edge and BJJ at times is being taught in a more "lets not get hurt now" manner. But, I think that is a different discussion and has much more to do with appealing to BJJ hobbyists rather than appealing to women.

As for changing actual BJJ techniques like arm bars to avoid boob touching, I can't say I have ever run into this so this seems more like an issue at your gym then a women in BJJ issue overall.

Finally,as for the light weights and aerobic silliness at Golds where once there was only male serious lifting I would say find a new gym. Golds clearly changed their business model to attract different people and it is no longer catering to your needs. I have found I need to change gyms every few years as the gyms change their emphasis.

After reading your posts, I think I'd pay good money to see you roll with Gabi and watch her make you cry like a little girl.

Oh you mean like Planet Fitness?

Somehow I can't see you as a person who would enjoy Planet Fitness. I would add LA Fitness to the avoid list as well if you want heavy weights. Perhaps invest in basic equipment for a home gym so you can avoid the whole issue of women, music you dislike and light weights.

Yep, that's where it ends...

With the man being forced into a home gym.

But you don't have to be more sensitive or use different techniques?

And if you can't tell a joke in front of a selective demographic, its usually a good idea not to tell the joke at all. Probably racist, sexist or offensive in some way.

What did I say about thinking less in terms of gender? If you sub her, great, you sub a fellow grappler. If you don't, then there's more to learn. Its like the same as sparring with smaller guys and you really shouldn't think of sparring as "beating" someone. If you want to beat people, you compete.

Also, I think you get what you want from sparring. You can always try to test new technique on (presumably) weaker opponents. Just because you hold back on the strength doesn't mean you hold back on the techniques you use...if you are good enough at it, some of the sweeps/most of the chokes don't even require much strength to begin with.

I honestly think at this point women are the ones who are tolerating you. Just like the rest of us here who clearly think you are sixteen or something.

I did no such thing. On top of everything, you apparently have incredibly poor reading comprehension. Or you just prefer willful ignorance to intellectual honesty.

Keep on trolling, valiant misogynist troll!

51% of the population is female, why the hell wouldn't businesses want access to that market?

It's pretty simple numbers really. How many hardcore lifters do most gyms have? Not very many - probably 1-2% at the most? And that 2% will scare away most women and well over 2% of the non-serious male lifters. So of course most gyms will do anything they can to drive out hardcore lifters. Hence the "lunk alarm", no chalk, gently set down the weights and what not.

Most good gyms look like a dungeon to be honest - chalk everywhere, chains lying around, people doing deep squats with big weight etc. Most people don't want to train like that or even be around that. It's all about emphasis.

there are a lot of female students at my gym (including the wives of our head instructors). the females usually roll with other females because there are enough of them around.

It's comfortable?

I can't figure out if you're young and stupid or genuinely really misogynist. How old are you again?

Its a combination of misogyny and immaturity.

If you think its okay to shame a woman because she chooses to wear what she wants (in most cases its something she finds comfortable) then you're a huge piece of shit
