For all his life Nate has lived under the shadow of his big brother. Nick has been the fighter getting all the notoriety and fame while Nate has been a diligent if not steadfast company guy who has now fought for the UFC for 9 years and 26 UFC fights.

However, if you look at their records and check on their biggest wins, they both have had a few epic wins...but whose wins at that point in their careers have been better so far?

Nick has beaten:

Frank Shamrock (but was past his prime - for Strikeforce Championship),
BJ Penn (past his prime, former UFC Champion),
Robbie Lawler (very early in Robbie's career - later to become UFC Champion)

who are probably the biggest names he's beaten - plus include Takanori Gomi (former Pride champion) because pot isn't a performance enhancing drug.

Other good fighters, but not necessarily legendary wins, include:

Scott Smith
Marius Zaromskis
Gleison Tibau
Josh Neer

Nate has beaten:

Takanori Gomi (former Pride Champion)
Conor McGregor (current UFC Champion)
Gray Maynard (former UFC contender)

who are the biggest names he's beaten, plus additional good fighters:

Michael Johnson
Jim Miller
Donald Cerrone
Josh Neer

If you discount the fact that Diaz became a champion because he beat a past his prime Shamrock in the 2nd best org, who has the better resume between the brothers so far?

Nick beating Gomi was absolutely huge if you were watching world wide mma at the time.

And the way he won was fucking amazing and still is.

Nate has surpassed him (especially recently).

Nick hasn't won a fight in over 4 years and his last top 10 win was 5 years ago (even then the fight 5 years ago against Daley is "questionable" in terms of was he in the top 10 or not).

In that same time frame Nate has beaten Miller, Cerrone, Johnson, and McGregor (all top 10 wins)

You could argue Nate's last 5 years have been better than Nick's last 10 (if you add Nate's previous 5 years then you have now included 7 UFC peformance bonuses and some decent wins ontop of what he's done recently).

Nick's win against gomi is probably my favorite win over any fight

Gomi was a monster in pride.

Then Diaz came in high as fuck, took some shots, nearly knocked Gomi out and then choked him out with a fucking gogoplata.

Fair enough. Keep in mind Nate beat Gomi too, but wasn't DQ'd for it either (but yeah, Gomi was at his peak against Nick then!)

By far it was Gomi in the Pride 33. Gomi is the most legit win for any of the Diaz bros, and Nick's win was during Gomi's reign.

Conor may have more popularity, but Gomi was the bigger and better fighter.

Nate's win over Conor trumps anything Nick did.

Condit just ran away from Diaz the whole time and GSP carpetted him. He didn't win those fights, but it's hard to say his opponents won. Imagine you scrap with somebody and you backpedal the whole time or you take them down and just carpet them. Do you really feel like you're winning?

Nick is the better fighter their resumes are pretty equal though.

Looks pretty close with Nate being more likely to pick up big victories in the future.

Nate and it's not even really close. Gomi was huge but is still Nick's only really good win.

Nick's wins over Gomi and BJ are better than any of Nate's wins IMO.

Nate surpasses him easily with that list

Nick definitely beat Condit, but ya GSP blanketed him and did nothing significant. I also think the Silva fight was much closer than people make it out to me.

Honestly, based on the judging criteria I think Nate beat Silva,

Contextually speaking it's Nate and it's not even close

It's not close? Lawler was basically Conor when him and Nick fought.
Gomi was in his prime and got choked unconscious with a gogoplata.
And nobody has mentioned Paul Daley or Cyborg.
But it's not close.

It's absurd when people discredit a fighter's wins because they don't like the style. Condit and GSP absolutely won and won legitimately. That would be like saying it's hard to count a basketball team winning because they played a slow pace continuously winding down the shot clock. It's within the rules to take someone down and hold them down. If you have a problem with it, stop it from happening.
