Stipe has great cardio. He also set UFC record 361 total strikes when he fought against Mark Hunt on UFC Fight Night 65.

He also looks a little bit tired against Ngannou, but Ngannou is very heavy and working in clinch and taking down guy like him need a lot of energy. But he totally dominate Ngannou.

Against JDS (first fight) I think JDS had a little better cardio than Stipe

On the other hand we have Cormier which has a very good cardio (just watch Cormier vs AJ or other fights
like Cormier vs Gus),

but when he fought against Jon Jones he had a problem in 4th and 5th round.

Cormier even though hes shown fantastic stamina, every single time we see him it could go off a cliff at his age.

Stipe seems to have good stamina but we have never seen it really tested against a wrestler.

In short, Cormier should have the better cardio but it might not be true anymore...

DC has better cardio but funny things happen when you get punched in the face over and over.

Great post.

I agree.

D.C. likely edges him outin cardio but they're both good and the only way one of them completely gasses is if the fight is fought in such a way that they both get tired

I have no idea where this myth came from that DC has great cardio. He’s gassed/slowed down in many fights.

Both have great cardio.

But Stipe used his cardio against bigger guys and he will be bigger and stronger vs DC.

So if there is no finish, i see Stipe outlasting DC.

Cormier, but both have really good cardio.

That's close-- Daniel pushing 40 otherwise I'd say him slightly but he's got those elite wrestling chops

yeah, I tend to think DC, but it will depend on who imposes his gameplan on the other to a great extent.

Thing is, with firefighters.. they tend to have incredible lung capacity, and oxygen recovery. They do a lot of drills and training regarding breathing, to be able to not waste away their oxygen tanks when they are performing rescue operations. I can't say for sure that Stipe has the cardio to deal with such a high calibre wrestler in cormier, but I simply felt like stating that fact to add another perspective.

We'll see how good Sipe's cardio when he's the one being wrestled. Has Stipe faced an Olympic level wrestler who actually uses his wrestling in fights?

Cormier. Stipe gassed against Francis who he was totally dominating

Also if Bones got Dc tired in later rounds,

bigger Stipe could also...
