CM PUNK won a fictional belt and climbed to the top of professional wrestling. Given Brock Lesnar's successes, people naturally thought CM Punk would make an easy transition to MMA, utilizing his athleticism, and wrestling pedigree.

Yet, after two fights, the president of the UFC, Dana White, said this - "It should be a wrap. The guy’s 39 years old. I love the guy. He’s the nicest guy in the world. We gave him two shots, and he had a lot of heart tonight in this fight, and yeah, I think he should call it a wrap.”

When a man that would sell EVERYTHING he has for just a little bit more, says you should hang it up, instead of make more money for him, then you know you are in the shitter.

Then you had Ben Askren. Similar wrestling pedigree albeit it was amateur, not professional. Similar hype. People touted him as the greatest wrestler in MMA. Better than Jones, DC, or Khabib. Me, and a few others in this forum knew the truth. He was a big fish in a small pond. The man NEVER fought in the UFC. The UFC is the big leagues, and simply put, if you are a champion in another company, it doesn't matter, because the lowest ranked fighter from the UFC, has a 50/50 shot against any champ in their respective division.

So when Ben Askren, decided to transition to a real fight league, all bets were off. He got sent to a brief coma vs Lawler, but due to his autism he was able to wake up. Next was Jorge Masdvial, who isn't a top 15 in his division. He got knocked out by Masdival, making an amateur mistake. Next he fought Maia. A man who is a ground specialist. What does Askren do? Go to the ground. He should have spent his entire camp striking and he could have won.

All in all, who had the worst fall? Thousands of CM punk fans were CRUSHED he didn't live up to the hype. Ten's, perhaps 20s of Askrens fans had a similar ordeal. Which one was worse?

Ben easy

At least punk went out on decision lost though quite embarrassing.

Well Askren admittedly said he wasn’t what he used to be and was already officially retired for a whole year so we all knew he wasn’t going to do to well, even though he was a top Welterweight in 2012-2013...

I have to go with Punk

The guy who never won an mma fight with no fight experience or the guy who came in undefeated with a following of fans that thought he was going to run though everyone and that he was better than the goat gsp?

CM Punk vs Askren immediately following his hip surgery would be a hell of a fight.

Let's be real here, who actually expected Phil Brooks to win a fight ? I sure as fuck didn't.

Askren came in with a stellar record and tons of hype. He didn't beat Lawler as far as I'm concerned (Lawler wasn't out), and he got destroyed by Masvidal and ground raped by a senior citizen.

Askren easy.

Obviously Ben.

Nobody had an expectation for CM Punk.
A lot of people thought Ben could either be champion or challenge for the title.

CM Punk never had a rise to grace to have a fall.

please don’t tell me even in a joking or hypothetical statement you compared CM punks wrestling achievements to that of Ben askren?

askren for sure.

cm punk wasnt finished in 2 seconds.

What fucking parallel universe did you come from?

CM Goat is just bidding his time before his inevitable title run

Having dealt with CM Punk and his cockiness BEFORE WWE... He always thought he was someone more than he was... And never had a real sport talent or achievement... And his acting was bleh on top of it... So... CM Punk didn't fall from anything because he never had anything :)

CM Punk never had grace to begin with (look at his "striking") and grace isn't a whitey afro.

Askren given that he may may or may not have already attained grace, whereas the CM Punk thing was easy to see from a mile away.

Askren for sure, there were many who thought he would wrestle GSP and Khabib and Usman to death and would run through UFC. I never thought he would be champ in UFC and I thought he was getting too old and he is so slow.. but I did think he would do better than he did. He never looked good in any of his UFC fights, even the fight that he ''won''

We expected big things. Right leg hospital, left leg cemetery

CM Punk did relatively well considering how good Gall was in comparison.
He's back in the wwe now making money.

Askren saved us from Mighty Mouse & in turn made Masvidal a star.
Don't find a need to disrespect either of them.

You cant fall from the floor. Ben beat Robbie F'in Lawler.....
