In any division are there any stand outs you think can take the belt?

for me it's Josh Thomson at LW and McGregor at FW

Thomson just has the skills and grit to beat the top light weights right now.

    McGregor is Mcregor

Yeah he has the skills but straight up I don't think Dana is going to give him a shot anytime soon

What happens if Khabib and Thomson both win? Will they fight each other or what?

Khabib at lw, Lombard at ww, machida at mw, ain't no one beating jones at lhw In the next 3 years. Unless Gus hits him with one of his manuwa eyepokes. Hw is gonna be cains for 1-2 year but mark my words Tyrell Fortune will be ufc champ within the next 3 years.

    Flw: maybe baugatinov
    Bw: cruz
    fw: bj penn
    lw: khabib
ww: if condit makes a good recovery I think he'll be a champion and I think gunni will eventually be a champ at ww or lw
Mw: I dont think any of the top guys except machida matchup well with weidman and I think the machida fight is a coin toss
lhw: gus is the only guy in the top ten right now that I think has a chance. Maybe dc could land a ko punch but I doubt it
Hw: if I had to pick i'd say werdum but I dont think any of the current top guys match up well with ol' pillow fists

Pedro Munhoz at BW but he's still a couple years away I think

    McGregor at FW

Melendez has a real shot although I still favor Pettis while Khabib needs more experience and time to round out his striking imo. A fight with Bendo would be great for him.

WW is very interesting and I think Gunnar and Thatch are both threats although Gunnar might be too small but everyone is overlooking Kelvin Gastellum who I think has a very good chance to be champ within a couple of years. And Matt Brown is being overlooked because of his past losses by sub. I think it's obvious by now that both his ground game and wrestling have improved and it's time to find out how much.

Yoel Romero is the opposite of the young prospects I've listed above. I think he needs either a top contender fight or an immediate title shot. If his improved fight IQ remains I think he has the skills to win the MW title right now over any of the top contenders.

FLW, female BW, LHW with the possible exception of Gus, and HW won't change anytime soon. Maybe Cormier but despite my dislike of Jones he got through the tought fight, I think he learned from it, and he still seems to be improving.

This is a very solid list. The only obvious one I'd change is HW switching to Werdum (I think he has the best chance out of anyone at HW. Outside of him I don't think anyone else is gonna take out Cain).

Jesus Christ, no. Yoel Romero is one of the more overrated fighters at MW. Yes he's a great athlete with amazing credentials.

His striking is far from top contender worthy. His MMA wrestling has only been impressive against Brad Tavares who's best win is....I don't even know...Lorenzo Larkin probably? We've also seen no sign of a submission game from him and he was incredibly underwhelming in his victory over Derek Brunson.

Usually this wouldn't matter as he'd have time to develop. Learn to adapt his wrestling style to mma and pick up his striking skills. However, he is 37. And while their are those who have careers that have shown success and longevity (Anderson, Randy, Hendo), those kinds of fighters are few and far between. Yoel Romero has maybe a few years left (and even a few years might be cutting it), not a ton of time to redefine his tools into a contender. All of the current top 10 beat him. The top 8 finishes him. Quickly.

I'd love to see Thomson win the belt, although I'm a big Pettis fan and I think he beats the shit out of anyone. Khabib presents an awkward challenge for him though.
