While so many Brazillians held the belt in the UFC in (almost in all divisions) for a long time now, there has never been a Brazillian WW or LW champ

Who could be the first at WW and at LW?

*Flyweight and Womens division have only been made last year so I only consider the WW and LW

At WW now by the way things are going, I see Demian Maia being champ, I'm not saying this is a definite, but he's the most well round Brazilian at 170 in the UFC. At LW I see Aldo being champion, if and when he moves up, dude's striking is better than most LW's

This. Jose Aldo most likely.

thread summed up in one post

Not so long ago Erick Silva was been spouted about. We'll see how he bounces back from his defeat last time out.

Aldo as others have said.

I think Maia would beat GSP if they fought right now.

Don't think Maia will ever be champ. I think it will be Aldo for lightweight and Erick Silva for welterweight.

i lik maia as ww champ i can see it specially if gsp retires

IDK, brazilians don't really seem to like WW, the UFC has only really had two noteable Brazilian WW's in Paulo Thiago and Thiago Alves

but Maia and E. Silva have decent chances

First post nailed it

If Erick Silva could harness the TDD of motivated BJ I think he could do it. If he gets fitched by more wrestlers though there is no chance.

at LW - Jose Aldo.
at WW - Demian Maia. lots of people are saying Erick silva but the reality is that he's still being talked about as a prospect, the guy turns 29 in June and was just beaten by someone that the Champ of his weightclass thoroughly dominated.

Whoa... based on what? In a perfect world, I'd be completely for this as I think Demian is a great guy and a really fantastic representative of the sport but GSP's wrestling really is on another level. How can Maia win on the feet? There's just no way he's going to outstrike GSP and I highly doubt he'd ever get the fight to the ground.

So, seriously, why do you feel so confident that if they fought right now he would win? Not being a dick, either, I'm just bewildered by that assessment and I'm not a big GSP fan by any means.

Anyone think Barboza has a chance at LW if he improves his reaction to being hit?

Thiago alves is only 29, when GSP retires he will still be in his prime and could become champ

Keep in mind that Maia is hugeeee for a WW.
