Chris Weidman is not the most spectacular fighter on the planet, but he is very good. He is not World-class at anything, but he is really good at everything: skilled wrestler with versatile takedowns, great KO power on both hands, good chin, BJJ black belt good enough to finish 2nd at ADCC(as a brown belt) and extremely athletic. He is also huge for 185 lbs. Weidman just might be the most well-rounded fighter in MMA now that GSP has retired. He is not the best at anything, but he is top-tier at everything.

I was thinking that I really don't see anyone at 185 lbs that can beat him. The guys at 185 lbs that can stand with him can't stop his TDs, and the grapplers all are inferior to him in wrestling, and I don't see anyone taking him down and finishing him there. None of the potential challengers stand much of a chance

Vitor --> The problem with Vitor is that, without steroids, he doesen't have the aggressiveness and explosiveness that makes him a winner. He tends to choke when he is clean. Then, there is the problem of his gas tank. Vitor looks amazing in the first two rounds and then fades. Also, even on steroids, the matchup doesen't favor Vitor. I can't see him stopping Weidman's TDs, and even though Vitor is a Carlson Gracie black belt, I think Weidman's BJJ is superior at this point. "Super" Vitor stands 40% chance of beating Weidman by KO in the first or second rounds, but regular Vitor loses.

Prediction: Weidman submits Vitor in the 3rd round

I don't think anyone at mw will beat him right now. Rockhard gives him the most trouble. He'll probably stay undefeated until age and injuries start to slow him down.

Stopped reading at "not world class at anything". Do you really think he was able to win the title by being "very good at everything"? Anderson wouldn't have lost to someone who wasn't elite at both striking and grappling. He has fought high level strikers (Vitor started crucifying guys after Anderson roflstomped his face) and he has fought elite grapplers.

Assuming you are not serious. Weidman has yet to fight the grand majority of the contenders in his weight-class.

Having said that, Rockhold and Jacare are legitimate threats to him.

if im not mistaken anderson successfully defended the takedown on the second fight, but the problem is weidman just smashed him on the feet and knocked him down anyway

Vitor doesnt need TRT. He used TRT beacuse it was legal. The real Q is, can Teh Cris survive Vitor power and speed?
Vitor has fastest hands in MW divison. Vitor gonna destroy Teh Cris.
"Weidman's BJJ is superior" Are you on cocaine?

I think Jacare is the biggest threat, followed closely by Machida & Rockhold.

My faith in Rockhold will greatly increase if he manages to get past Machida.

I would pick Machida in a rematch. He had Chris's number by the end of the fight, just gave up too many early rounds.

Honestly, Weidman's standup is not that far ahead of Jacare's (if it is at all). I think your statement is patently false.

A puncher's chance for everyone. But really I want to see Weidman man up and face Jones at 205, which it seems he would. That is, if Jones can't man up and go to HW.
