Who are the russians rooting for?

The difference is afghanistan is not part of america. Neither is pakistan. Dagestan is part of russia. They didnt come from somewhere else to russia. Russia came to them. Its not overseas in some other part of the world.

I don't know, maybe there is such thing in US as disliking people from certain states? Like, if mma fighter is from some Southern state - people assume that he is a redneck or hillbilly and dislike him? Also, I think theremore serious stuff for example in China with Uygur people - there was thread about how government tries to turn Muslims from Uyghur's region into Atheist/communist and have some sort of camp for that.

Every Chechen i met didn't support Russia in the World Cup so yeah it does go both ways. During the Soviet Union people were more together but now since its "Russian Federation" its harder to be a patriot for a Caucasian. Also most Chechens didnt like Fedor commenting about the child fights since they saw it as hypocritical. He never protested when Kids died in Chechnya thanks to his buddy Putin.
I don't know if you watching Russian TV or your parents are into it. But sometimes it;s like that - they are in some political programm making fun of some European countries because they allow immigration or refugees to their country and they are Muslims and they create problems. And then in same programm same people start to say that we should not limit immigration/illegal immigration to Russia from ex-USSR countries and they praise Russia for being multicultural/multiethnic/multiracial/multireligious country and will say something like how good that in our country people of different religions lives for centuries. I mean, I think it will be confusing to Muslim to understand - if Muslims are bad and creating problems or they are good. And I think it's the same with politics - like, what is modern Russia - strange capitalistic country or strange socialistic? Secular and left-wing or right-wing and where religion will play some role? And stuff like that - I think in some programm they say that USSR were creeated through first (in the world) Orange Revolution and it's bad and communists were the puppets of Germans and other Europeans, other day they celebrate some communistic holiday or say good and nice things for hours about USSR (abd how it was created through the will of working class and peasants).
And about Chechens and fedor I think I've seen years ago that Chechens were posting that Volk Han was Fedor's coach or something like that, that he helped Fedor or taught him a lot and that Fedor is ungrateful because he didn't talk about that.
And I think there is Russians who don't root for national team too - because of players (there is controversies with them as human beings) and for other stuff.

they usually won't cheer for a foreigner over him. that is unusual.

Im sure some Chechens have said far worse things, before i used to mostly see Chechens praise Fedor. Even Zubair Tukhugov said that he is one of the greatest.

I think Russians would be more likely to root for Khabib just because they can understand his talking, which personalizes him more. But I could be wrong.

It's not the same but I'm quite sure that at least in one of his fights in US Beneil Dariush was booed and on this forum you can see threads about Cain and Gastelum walking out or havins Mexican flag on their uniform (seems like people here are not positive about them representing Mexico).

It is almost funny how they have been whining about stuff from 900 years ago. Damn, the Swedes traveled south, and were asked to manage the central trading hub in Kiev and it peoples. The Vikings/ Rus did not conquer, they were asked to take over due to the skirmishes with the Muslims to the east. Square peg/ round hole?

I believe if Khabib wasn't be able to talk he would have a lot more fans in Russia. And if he quit social media years ago.
