Whittaker was actually busting wonderboy up a bit before the ko (full fight)

Lesson to learn: jabs are hard to doge, especially for a guy with non-existent headmovement.

Thompson managed to negate Hendricks strikes so well becuse he held distance, retreated and circled whenever Hendricks came in with any of his big power shots. You simply cannot do that against those swift, stinging jabs that Whittaker constantly throws out.

Lawler's jab is better, and he sets up his swinging power shots better.

Yeah, it was kind of a back and forth war.

He ate those jabs like a sammich

Vs Condit Lawler actually got a bit careless with his jabs and managed to get himself countered a bit, which he hadn't done previously. But against Thompson, that's not really a such a problematic scenario since Stephen dosen't really work on countering stuff like that as harshly as Condit did.

It would be really intresting to see Thompson vs Rory. Rory's lenghy limbs, good jabs and generally keen sense of distance could be nightmarish for a guy like Thompson to deal with.

Not to mention Rory's top game.

Whittaker is a future champ at 185. Unless he does something stupid like getting busted for coke.

That gif is absolutley hilarious

One rematch worth watching. I wonder what WB would look like at 185 vs Whittaker?

How is Rory, the guy who lost to Lawler a more scary matchup than the actual champion who has defended? You have some 'splaining to do Mr. expert.

Whittaker was just 23 there fighting a kickboxing match against a 57-0 undefeated kickboxer with 1 MMA loss and looked good. He got a bit sloppy and he reacted poorly to being rocked and Wonderboy has just gone on to decimate more and more top guys at 170. At 185 and 25 he eats shots harder than that. His TDD is best in the UFC, he is lightning fast, has kicks, bows, knees and an excellent array of punches and an awesome chin and he is still young.

He is special.

Whittaker is no joke.

Matt Brown beat the living shit out of him for real, on the ground and then on the feet and then all over the ground until the bell. Was a mauling.

Wonder how that would go today.

I've never claimed that Rory is a scarier match-up than Lawler. I simply stated that Rory has a nightmarish style for Wonderboy to handle. Stephen dosen't move his head, with makes him valnuable to the sort of jabs that Rory loves to dish out. And becuse of Rory's height and lenghty limbs, Stephen will have a hard time dictating the distance vs him, which is the cornerstone of Wonderboy's game. If Whittaker managed to sting Thompson as much as he did, Imagine what Rory could do.

Lawler presents a whole other slew of problems too, of course. He jabs really well. And has a keen proficiency in forcing his opponents into a brawl (which is excactly what Stephen dosen't want).

I had never seen that one, sucks to see Whittaker lose. Wonderboy is Fucking beast.
