Whittaker/Rockhold is perfect example of everything wrong with the UFC today

I dunno man, the only meh fight is the light heavy weight.

I'll still stream this card and be happy.

Then the next morning, I'm coming on Sherdog to complain about fighter pay.

Complete shit for a PPV. And I can almost guarantee there wont be another big fight. This card is a 2 fight show with Whitker/Rockhold and Hunt/Blaydes.

Some bullshit Dana is putting Whitiker threw, this guy has fought nothing but killers, and cant even get a decent undercard. But we all know once Conor comes back, Dana is gonna load that card up with nothing but "Just Bleed Strikers".
Outside the LHW fight these are all bangers. Ben 10 looked like a beast last time and forimga is always fun. Hunt/blaydes is pure violence. Brown/Stun Gun can be good if both fight aggressive. Love my bitches is always fun also.

The biggest bullshit of Whittaker Rockhold is that Rockhold doesn't deserve the titleshot in the first place.

I think this fight will be easy money for Bobby Knuckles....he will roll over Luke.........

Who would they add? This isnt gonna do well on ppv regardless of what the co main is. So why waste another title fight on this.

not only is the card not even done, but it's an australian card and they're putting australian fighters on it what did you expect?

stop acting like you know anything lmao, UFC isn't trying to pull anything.

card isn't even that bad tbh, and it's not even done.

This is just how cards look anywhere other than in the US / Canada.

Because the bulk of PPV are shipped in those two places, and time differences, whenever there’s a card in other countries they’re fucking dogshit.

Happens to UK every time. We get one local fighter (Bisping/Hardy) headlining, then a bag of utter shite under it - they still have the audacity to charge us circa £80 a ticket.

I went to Bisping vs Hendo II in Manchester, we actually got one or two half decent bouts underneath too - but they started the main card at 3AM local time.

I was in the arena until 5:50am waiting for Bispings walkout.

Absolute joke

Pretty sure that's the other dhk, not stun gun.

I get that it's a home turf fight for Whittaker and others. They'll make a decent gate but you're already setting up Whittaker as a bad draw because the rest of the card is shit. Now, he'll won't have any negotiating power because Dana will just keep using the numbers to hamstring him.

Whittaker has been in the UFC years. He's not gonna be a draw lol.

There is nothing about him that would indicate he is.

You know what he is? A guy the MMA hardcores like me and you watch and that's what they are banking on with him.

Not everyone is gonna be marketed like Conor or Rousey.

I doubt they are worried about the extra 1 or 200k Whittaker could command with slightly better numbers.

As older names fade away, there simply aren't that many "stars" in the UFC replacing them. We're bound to see more and more cards like this. It's going to be like boxing where the main event is the only draw and the rest of the fights are hit and miss.

Hardcore fans have always looked at the strength of cards from top to bottom. That's not the case with more casual fans.

This isn't that type of thread, bro. This is a systematic move to railroad someone's chance to ask for more money should he keep winning. Throw him a bone by making it in NZ, but stick it to him later at the negotiating table.

if he draws as a champ going forward he will make more money.

This card is about selling tickets not PPVs

Based on how clearly they're going local and the lack of names

That said even though it's a card weak on star power those will be good fights to watch

A lot of well matched fights with entertaining guys and even though we're a month out I'm sure they aren't done with this card yet

Hopefully the fighters agents are brighter than you are, and recognize PPV buys are not how the UFC is buttering their bread.

Do you realize that the UFC had almost a 60% drop in their PPV buys from 2016 to 2017? From 8.3 million in 2016 to maybe $3.6 million in 2017.

AND THEY STILL HAD RECORD PROFITS!!!!!!!!!!

What does that tell you?

Perhaps Whitakers people know something about how valuable the Foxtel deal in Australia might be worth to the UFC's bottom line.

Not many "names" on that card, but in terms of fights, they look pretty good. I don't know much about Pedro, but I definitely remember Safarov's sloppy bangfest with Gian Villante in Buffalo. If he fights like that in this upcoming fight, it should be a good time.

You buying it?

Because if they stacked the card, it still wouldn't do well given the time difference and the fact that it's out of country. Whitaker gets to go fight in his home country. What he doesn't get is a stacked card. You can have one but not the other. It's basically Fair.

Could use another recognizable name though.

The rest of the card is shit because hardly any fighter wants to wake up so early in the morning on the day of fight.. The prelims in Perth start at 7 am local time.

I don't know why the UFC is holding a PPV in Perth instead of Sydney (where Whittaker lives and trains), Melbourne (where he was raised), or Auckland (where he was born).

In Sydney or Melbourne, the prelims would start at 10 am and the main card at 2 pm. In Auckland, the prelims would start at 12 noon and the main card at 4 pm. Those start times would allow fighters to get ample rest the night before and go through their normal fight day routines.
