When fighters say "he hates getting hit" i'm always like WTF. you think any fighter really wants to get hit and enjoys it, don't believe that fake psycho I dont care about getting hit I enjoy it, all of them would sign off on a 10 second KO in 1st round each and every time.

Like someone already pointed out, someone like Holloway and Leban have a different relationship with getting punched in the face, they might not “like” it, but they deal with it differently..

Didnt Australian Cain get finished by a 170 pounder

That was a long time ago, Rob has improved a shitload since then. Also unlike Max the move up has been a good one, he's far quicker than most MWs. Plus Thompson is a great fighter as well.

I like Bobby K, but Israel took care of the job he couldnt, and based on styles i think Whittaker could have ended KOed against the fast hands of Gastelum.

if whittaker comes in healthy it's all ogre for adesanya, however, i still izzy will win. rob will throw the fight

Robert Whittaker Says Adesanya Isn't Tough Enough to Take His Belt

Can you see Adesanya Hanging with Romero?

“Nothing new at all,” Whittaker told Submission Radio. “I feel that that fight showed exactly what I’ve been saying the whole time. I think he’s (Adesanya) great, but he doesn’t like getting hit, he doesn’t look great going backwards, and I just don’t think he’s as good as he thinks he is.

"Let me be clear: that’s not putting it on him, because I know he gets very upset whenever I say anything negative about him *laughs*, but I’m saying it was a great fight, he showed a lot of heart and technically he’s amazing, but yeah, he got hit, he got hit and he got hurt. And if Gastelum can hit and hurt him, I can hit and hurt him.

“Definitely, [Gastelum would have been a harder fight for me]. Now, I’m not saying that Adesanya is an easy fight for me. I think stylistically he matches up much better with my own style. Stylistically, I always wanted to fight Adesanya. Gastelum is just a keg. He’s a keg. When I was watching him fight Adesanya, that’s the fight that I was expecting when I was gonna fight Gastelum. Like, that’s the fight I had prepped for 12 weeks, and like, that’s the fight I had in mind when I was almost gonna fight him in Melbourne. And I’m happy, I’m very happy Adesanya had that fight *laughs*.”

“Fighting takes a lot out of you, and a fight like that with Gastelum takes a lot of you,” Whittaker said. “A lot, a lot out of you. And yeah, your neural systems go to places they shouldn’t in fight situations. It’s very intense, and I think fighting this much will start to wear him down. I think it will start to show. I feel like it started to show in the Gastelum fight.

“I think he’s had a lot of fights. That last fight was a war and I intend to exploit that. When he got hit, when he got hurt, he just didn’t want to be there. He just didn’t want to be there. That’s what I saw. He just looked like he didn’t want to be there.”
Never heard Robert trash talk. Hes gonna lose

First time I've seen Whittaker talk negatively about an opponent. Maybe Israel is in his head. Or maybe Rob is trying to get into Izzy's.

Hm, I don't know what he's getting at. Few people want to be "there" but he fought hard. He showed no sign of breaking and even fought harder when he found himself "there". That's what matters and his stock went up as far as I'm concerned.

" he doesnt like gettin hit " ?! no shit, who does ?!
did the kid overcome adversity or what ?
sad if true

People have a different pain tolerance and mental fortitude
He's of the opinion that izzy is further towards the intolerant end of the spectrum

That last gif has me rolllllllllin, like Burt Watson! LMAOOOO!

It's undeniable when you consider he thrived through 10 rounds of Romero vs. IZZY getting bloated lips from 5 rounds of Gastelum'.
Gastelum probably doubled if not trippled romeros output. Robert got dropped more times than izzy and got hit half as much.

"He doesn't like to get hit " is It statement regarding the opponent's willpower and pain tolerance

It says nothing about the person saying thay comment

Why are you suggesting Whittaker said he loves to get hit ??
Yeah, I know what it means, guy

It's tired, cliche horseshit. And frankly, it's a pretty lousy look for Bob. It doesn't suit him at all

He's not wrong. Adesanya is a natural counter striker. He's pretty defensive. Guys like that...I think it fucks with their head when they do get hit regularly. It's not that he can't take the shots, he seems to almost get confused as to how he just got hit. He has a momentary lapse in concentration because he's just not used to it.

Again, natural counter striker...

Man really sucks we didn't get to see that fight. I wanted to see Rob x Kelvin more than Rob x Izzy. Hopefully if Rob loses, we get to see him against Kelvin in 5 round main event. Possibly an ESPN card.

First time I’ve ever really heard Whittaker talk shit, it’s strange and out of character. It’s also telling, probably moreso than he thinks.

not sure how you think thats talking trash. He said that he is a great fighter and put on a great fight but he feels he is a better style match up for him and that Adensaya look like he didnt want to be there when he got hurt. What is he suppose to say that he will lose to him? He gave him respect and called him a great fighter.

I think it's a bit like the wise old man on the mountain ... He's watching this young flashy kid sprint up the hill but he's quietly confident because he knows how hard the climb is. He knows you take damage getting to the top, so once they fight, the old man won't be the only one with scars

Well Izzy is actually older than Whitaker, chronologically anyway. Both are on rather similar streaks, Whitaker is more proven, but he's still a relatively, newly minted champ. The Kelvin fight was great for Izzy because he went through the ringer and came out on top. By this logic, they've both faced adversity and came out more on the favorable end. Whitaker hasn't been the champ long enough to express the kind of rhetoric you think he is expressing nor is he "significantly" more experienced.
