I think its the right fight to make. I thought Melancon would go to 155 though.

If he loses to Whittaker, he'll either be cut or make a desperation drop ala Hector Lombard.

Whittaker is still young and promising. He trains at a good gym. Melancon should be a good test. No need to rush Whittaker at this point. He needs guys like Melancon to improve is overall game.

good fight for whittaker... he is Australia's most promising prospect atm (sorry Perosh haha) given his age and his skills on the feet. He hung in there with McGee who is very durable and has more experience

Good fight. Whittaker probably takes it though.

Whittaker take this via better striking.

Whittaker via 1st or 2nd round TKO. Melancon has got some decent standup but he'll be looking to brawl and I see Whittaker using his reach, speed and counter striking to set up the win. Also,

At about 3:17 Melancon mentions he has fought at 155 before but the cut is too hard for him seeing as he has a thick build and walks around at 200 pounds.

This Brisbane card keeps getting better and better. It pretty much has every Polynesian fighter in the UFC on the card lol

wow am i the only one who thinks Melancon has the slight edge here? He's got super heavy hands and like whittaker also comes from weird angles, but Melancon seems a bit faster. Whittakers chin is def going to be tested.

Nah. Melancon has got heavy hands but I don't think he moves as fast as Whittaker does.

I've never seen someone who's hands go from looking super explosive to average on a fight to fight basis like melancon. The left hook he was throwing against Seth looked as nasty as anything Ellenberger and Hendricks can throw but then in other fights his hands look pretty normal.

Solid fight, tough one for Whittaker if Melancon chooses to wrestle....hopefully 'The Pom Smasher' can pull it off, entertaining fighter!

Did you want him to get a step up after losing? This looks like a nice rebound fight for him.

The guys they lost to are scheduled to fight each other as well. Kind of a cool mini bracket.
