Probably the last thing you'd want when dealing with the VA problem currently.

The White House accidentally revealed the name of the CIA's top intelligence official in Afghanistan to some 6,000 journalists.

The person was included on a list of people attending a military briefing for President Barack Obama during his surprise visit to Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan on Sunday.

It's common for such lists to be given to the media, but names of intelligence officials are rarely provided. In this case, the individual's name was listed next to the title, "Chief of Station."

And also for the people who are going to pretend this is unheard of

In the most recent case before this one, the Bush administration infamously leaked the name of former CIA officer Valerie Plame to a journalist in 2003.

I think everyone will remember Scooter Libby

Oooopps.

Can't decide if this is just another example of complete incompetence, or willful retribution for something.

Doesn't matter I guess. This administration is full retard.

Treason is treason no matter who does it.

I posted it in IH's thread yesterday morning, not a single person mentioned it

It's always an accident. Everything is by accident.

Seriously. If you were as completely ineffective at managing a Mcdonalds as this administration is at running the country, you'd have been fired long ago. Does anybody in a supervisory position have any idea what anyone underneath them is doing?

Chief of Station does sound like a pretty cool title though.

I'm guessing the Valerie Plame thread got more than 2 pages.

Where's JVS and Lil' Nikki?

Yes because all those extremely powerful people are just henchmen for obama.

You would think the CIA would get a look at any list before it's given to the press?

Have you actually read the article? It seems pretty obvious that this was a mistake (a big one that should result in those responsible losing their job), but not an intentional outing.

The WH emailed a memo to the press corp listing those that would be in attendance for the Presidents address in Afghanistan. One of the first reporters to get the email noticed the position of "Chief of Station" listed next to an individuals name. He called the WH and told them about the memo, and the WH immediately redacted it. However, given that the first email was already out , they guys cover was blown.

A amazing ****-up, and something that those responsible for should lose their jobs over. But nothing in any article I've seen even suggests that this was a partisan or intentional outing of the station chief.

Read about this over the weekend. Definitely a major fuck up by someone.
At this point I don't think we can really compare it to Plame, though more information could change that.

Maybe that's the CIA protocol for retiring top officials lol.

Officer gets ousted, receives protection from the state for the rest of his or her life.

That's an explanation to consider.
