Social White Evangelicals See Trump as Their Savior?

Trump is choosing the judges.
All of Trump's judicial nominations so far come straight from a list of nominees provided to him by the Federalist society at the beginning of his Presidency. All of his judicial nominations so far also have the Evangelical seal of approval.

I thought you would have known that?

Lol. An elected representative responding to suggestions from voters who support them is not an example of privilege. The article you quoted from suggesting otherwise is poorly reasoned.

No, the Federalist society is .

No, Trump is nominating judges. That's the prerogative of his office. The people you are absurdly calling privileged are at most advising Trump. If they themselves asked the Senate to nominate the judges, they would be summarily dismissed.

A tiny pseudo religious sect like Evangelicals having the ear of the most powerful person in the world is the textbook definition of privilege and it's a privilege they don't deserve.

No, it is not the textbook definition of privilege. They are his political supporters, and he may or may not nominate judges they like. That's how representative democracy works. To call that religious privilege is stupid. If a Dem president were to try to please black constituents by nominating judges they prefer would they become racially privileged? Of course not.

However, if evangelicals are really only a tiny sect then Trump is likely paying them less heed then you are claiming.

“It’s incredibly troubling,” said Rachel Laser, president and CEO of Americans United, a nonpartisan organization dedicated to the separation of church and state.

“Trump is conferring unparalleled privilege on one narrow slice of religion,” Laser said. “He confers privilege in exchange for constant loyalty at the ballot box, no matter what he does.”

The unlikely alliance between those nominally following biblical interpretations of right and wrong, and a thrice-married man who has been credibly accused of sexual assault and infamously paid off a pornographic actor, has thrown up a rich – and bizarre – cast of characters.

A sustained effort by influential Christian voices to justify Trump’s personal misdeeds and political cruelty has led to the frequent portrayal of Trump as a flawed vessel for God’s will. In particular, Trump has been compared to King Cyrus, who, according to the Bible, liberated the Jews from Babylonian captivity, despite himself being a Persian ruler.

One of the first to make the Trump-Cyrus connection is Lance Wallnau. Wallnau, a business consultant who styles himself as a doctor – his LinkedIn page credits Phoenix University of Theology as his alma mater, but the university had its 501(c)(3) status revoked by the Internal Revenue Service in 2017 and its campus appears to be a PO box in Arizona – claims the “the Lord spoke” to him during the election period.

According to Wallnau God said, specifically: “Donald Trump is a wrecking ball to the spirit of political correctness.”

Wallnau is not alone on this. Mike Evans, an evangelical leader who was invited to speak in front of Trump at a White House faith dinner, is also onboard with the Cyrus analogy. He explained the idea to the Christian Broadcasting Network in 2017.

“[Cyrus] was used as an instrument of God for deliverance in the Bible, and God has used this imperfect vessel, this flawed human being like you or I, this imperfect vessel, and he’s using him in an incredible, amazing way to fulfill his plans and purposes,” Evans said.

At a campaign rally in Florida last week to launch a push for evangelical support Trump was introduced on stage by the Miami megachurch pastor Guillermo Maldonado as Cyrus. “Father, we give you the praise and honor and we ask you that he can be the Cyrus to bring reaffirmation, to bring change into this nation, and all the nations of the Earth will say America is the greatest nation of the Earth,” Maldonado said.

Rank-and-file evangelicals have also embraced the imperfect vessel concept, and Wallnau is now selling Trump-Cyrus “prayer coins” – the king is in the background, a brooding profile of Trump is in the foreground – for $45 a coin.

“If you’re a faith community and you make a political deal with the president, and sell your soul, you stretch to come up with a theological justification, and this seems to be the go-to, this idea,” Laser said.

So white Evangelicals see Trump a womanizing serial sexual assualting, serial lying, thin skinned, immature, vindictive, con artist, reality tv host as their savior!!! If you are looking at Trump to be your savior the you probably aren't worth saving.

CLIFFS:
"Evangelicals please vote for the candidate that will pass abortion after birth, men in women's bathrooms, allow boys to compete against your daughters in athletics, and mocks your very faith. If that's to much to ask then just stay home so that candidate can still win."

That guy was exposed by another weird fanatic on here, albeit one that actually has read the bible, as a fraud that only repeats youtube actor talking points. When he was actually called on his BS and had to back it up with actual knowledge, he squirmed his way into admitting he really never really knew what he was talking about. It was funny and sad at the same time.
I can hardly believe I missed out on seeing that.

They're all batshit insane cucks. Imagine looking to Donald Trump as a savior of anything lmao it's absolutely absurd that such morons even exist.
I feel like this was going to be the inevitable consequence of their support for Trump. As more and more of the consequences come to light of the Evangelicals' deal with the Devil in supporting Trump to get what they want, they need to go to greater and greater lengths to excuse their support. Recent events have shown them he has a rather un-Christian disregard for human life, among other things. They have to come back strong with something to maintain the cognitive dissonance. It will only get worse as time goes on, especially if we hear from Bolton and Parnas at the impeachment trial.

I also feel that "incredibly troubling" is an understatement of the situation.

David didn't let his bone spurs stop him when it was time to man up and fight Goliath.

Oddly, David was an adulterer and murderer who is descibed as a man after God's own heart.

White Evangelicals are one of the most powerful voting blocks in American politics and are also beyond a doubt the most annoyingly self righteous, shamelessly hypocritical, divisive, two faced voting block in American politics and the country will be better off once they go the way of the dinosaur, 8 track and Dodo bird.

Gee I wonder why white Evangelicals don't care about making you happy.

Oddly, David was an adulterer and murderer who is descibed as a man after God's own heart.

Is this why you are so avidly anti-death penalty? Because you believe a murderer might be a servant of God intended for some righteous, future purpose?

America allow us with our warped fu*ked up self serving, hypocritical, two faced racist, faux patriotic version of Christianity to fear monger you with almost non existent partial birth abortion, men in women's bathrooms and dudes competing against your daughters in athletics while at the same time engaging in cynical anti Islam fear mongering. If it's not too much to ask in addition let us with our considerable influence help elect a two bit lying, criminal reality tv host President to do our bidding.

I'm anti-death penalty because you can't take it back if you make a mistake; we clearly use it disproportionally against the poor and minorities; and if you are going to be pro-life you should be consistent.

LOL; yes you lefties have been telling us that we're racist for the last 11 years. It doesn't mean anything anymore. We have however been taking note of all the "moderate" democrats that have taken over states like VA where that proposed a bill to allow the "abortion" of a child after it was delivered.

And where's the islamic fear mongering?

Partial birth abortion is almost non existent (less than 1%) and after 9/11 Evangelicals made anti Islamic fear mongering a cottage industry.

Evangelicals completely gave up the religious high ground and they don't care. The Bible talks all of the time about false prophets and similar imagery, yet the group who should be most attuned to such things is the group who most openly says "We don't care because of worldly things."

It's inconsistency of the highest kind. I often joke with myself about how these people will explain this choice when they get to heaven.

St. Peter: Why did you so aggressively support a man who showed no care for his marriage, the poor, lied to the people and elevated his love of wealth so openly?
Evangelical: Well, we wanted Supreme Court Justices.
St. Peter: You mean you cared about the judgment of man over the judgment of God?
Evangelical: But Hillary!!! <45>

The old “Trump supporters are racist”
line. It’s gone from a used line to the main question go-to line.
This started before Trump. Southern baptists and Evangelicals never supported desegregation, infact they were either opposed to or reticent about the Civil Rights movement. Christianity was first used to justify slavery then segregation by these Conservative 'Christians'. .

Evangelicals are batshit crazy so obviously the opposition tries to paint anyone who disagrees with them as evangelicals
