so i posted the following in the off-topic barenuckle:

"I can't begin to tell you how many times I clicked on a thread with a promising title only to be disappointed upon seeing the colour of the belt and pathetic content said poster tried to pass off as "humour."

We should have to earn the privilege by gaining a coloured belt first through posting in other's topics. You practically eliminate bogus threads/trolling through this. And it would make for more incisive posting.

and yes, I do appreciate the irony."

Some guys responded that apparently it's a host code issue, which I totally sympathise with. That said though (and I did try using the search function to see if anyone else had brought it up before, and either no one did or I really suck at the search function thing) I do think it's worth taking a look at, I really think it'd improve the site a lot.

Well, that's my suggestion. Cheers guys.

This thread as been made a hundred times. Admin will not allow this change. ever. I believe they feel it will discourage users from creating accounts. Good or bad, all users should have the right to make threads. Yin and Yang, dude.

i disagree with the discouragement of new users. at SA you have to pay to even most and they do just fine.

Pretty much sums it up.

I guess some jack leg typing ttt is more useful to get his numbers into triple digits. I have been a active MMA fan since UFC 1 but I need to post a lot of 3 word B.S to count. Give me a break.

More posts don't make people smarter, or funnier, or more adept thread starters.

Pretty much sums it up.

What about a cap of threads started a day but with no limit on posts?

I think it's at least reasonable that a new user shouldn't be able to start 15 individual threads in one day.

A "whitebelts shouldn't make threads" thread and a "I've been watching since UFC 1" post at the same time!
