I imagine they would, unless you "retired" immediately and notify them of returning to competition 4 months out from the end of your suspension. Think Chael Sonnen, currently under suspension but also retired, doubt he's being tested at the moment.

That makes sense. Might as well "retire" if suspended for 2 years. Then if you want to come back. "Unretire" just a month before your comeback fight but make sure your body is clean of any banned substances.

I think Chael is gonna do this to make one final pay day.

You are not supposed to get tested for recreational drugs outside of camp so yes, in theory he can do all the cocaine his heart desires. Unless of course he is also on probation which has drugs or booze as a condition.

i daresay theyve considered that possibility and closed that loophole.

He can do all the coke he wants before he's being tested "in competition" anyway. He could have been doing coke without any trouble from USADA/NSAC as recently as last month.

I'm not sure on this, but I would think he wouldn't be tested until his suspension is up, or until he has a fight lined up. There's no point in random testing someone who's serving a lengthy suspension.
