Is it mostly people who train mma and bjj who come out to small.cards and thats about it?
And do you notice certain ethnicities or social groups who may not even train yet always attend local shows?

People who know/train with the people fighting on the card.

I've wondered this before as well. You will see small shows with decent crowds. I think cheap tickets at the Indian Casino, plus alcohol probably leads to a fair number of impulse buys. I think many of the tickets are handed out for free as filler. I think very casual fans don't know the difference between UFC and any other MMA and assume they are buying really cheap UFC tickets. And frankly, if I was in some crappy midwestern town and some cheap MMA show rolled through, I'd buy a ticket.

MMA fans in general. I go to any card I can. I don't think it has to be a specific group.

Family and friends of the fighters.
This. I've been to one small MMA show held in something that was slightly bigger than a community center and by the co-main event just about the entire crowd cleared out. As fights ended the fighters' friends and families would leave until there was pretty much no one left.

I go to all the local pro cards in the MD/DC area and am always satisfied with the fights and the crowd. My only issue is tickets are always $30-100 which seems pricey but all the fighters are making 300/300 except a handful. So I realize the tickets would have to be ridiculous for fighters to get paid more. Thats why if you talk to the fighters they all say the same thing, my dream is to fight in the UFC because sick bank compared to these peanuts.

Id say locals aswell who might be confused thinking its the UFC or something. Aswell as local die hard fans.

The only times I've gone so far is when I've known fighters in the show. And I usually haven't had to pay for the ticket...

Damn, are they really that dumb. Shit. I'm not a sci fi aficionado, but I wouldn't buy tickets to see Space Mutiny and think it was the next Star Wars.

I go to Ring of Combat cards in AC. I enjoy seeing the next wave of talent coming out of the east coast.

No of course you wouldn't. Space Mutiny is miles better:icon_lol:

It depends what kind of show it is. If it's a bigger regional show like Legacy it might draw some hardcores and if it's at a casino it will draw in some people from that location.

Otherwise, you are pretty much running the show for people personally connected with one of the fighters in some way.

Every regional show I've been to I've always gotten the tickets for free. They seem to try to make the bulk of their money through concession stands.

I go to local cards all the time, going to WFC 10 tomorrow night
The good local shows out here(Bay Area/Sacramento) can pull in a few thousand people
A lot of the people are family/friends/teammates of the fighters but theres also a lot of regular fans who just like going to the fights
Theres also a shitload of women at the fights who go there in groups because its a party and they like the MMA fighter stereotype guys

I've been to some small shows just for the hell of it. It's MMA and a fun experience. Also some of the small time fighters are cornered by and train with bigger names. I went to some small show and Rampage and Sokoudjou were there. This was when Rampage was UFC Champion and Sokoudjou was considered top 10. But the vast majority of the audience is often friends, family, and people from the same gym.
