Never played either, saw a few YT clips searched the topic here and you guys were talking them both up.

Going to buy one on XBOne and would love to hear your opinions.

Will probably buy the full bundle at 80ish USD

Also I'll be playing single player more than anything else.

Hook a brother up, 5 or 4?

I played Sniper Elite 4 and it was really good. Not yet gotten around to 5 but heard only good things. Don't think you can go wrong with either them, it's a very solid series.

Been supporting Rebellion for a very long time.

Choose 4 and the Deathstorm expansion in beautiful Bavaria is a 100% must-buy as it's a high point for the franchise. If you want to dive into its MP, let me know but I don't know about current activity. I used to place on European leaderboards (low, though) and can at least give you some pointers on flicking, masking and all that.

Thanks, C. *brofist

@The Clark

Thanks SherBro.

Don't really have much time to dedicate to online play anymore, so I'm hoping for many hours of single player when I get me time to fuck around and blast npcs in creative ways.

Leaning towards 4 then based on your recommendation barring any huge hype for 5.

Sniper Elite: Resistance and Zombie Army 4: Dead War, are both on XBOX Game Pass, if you fancy it.

I've never played the Sniper Elites and though it seems to be the same developer, I don't know if Zombie Army will be up your alley. I played a bit of it. Seemed good.

My good friend from Netherlands absolutely loves Zombie Army titles. He also 100'd SE4 for the Platinum trophy, which is a tough MF'er to unlock. On ZA, I've always had the impression the franchise is under Rebellion's B-team but I don't know; engine + mechanics are samey and yet off, more rise-repeat or superficial maybe because of the deemphasised stealth and pressure-cooker shooting. I think I remember ZA4 selling quite well.

Bought 4 loving it so far.
Great stuff, bud. Would love to hear random thoughts from you as you play and whenever you feel like. You bought the beautiful Deathstorm expansion too?

This probably looks and plays fantastic on the Series X. Have you thought about upgrading, T?

Yeah bought the digital bundle with all the DLC.

Started single player campaign on Sniper Elite (hard) difficulty, but I did leave the aim assist diamond on while I learn the mechanics.

Still on first map lol.

Love the sandbox quality of the level and the scenery is very immersive. Getting a mix of Hitman, Assasins Creed, and WW2 shooter vibes and its a good mix.

Being that it's Sniper Elite, I prefer to...snipe. only took a few min in to realize "shoot and scoot" is key, and if you rip off 3 or more unsilenced or masked shots, you're going to get swarmed on... and since I was less than 10 min in...die.

So got wise and more patient on reload. Two shots max from a location before moving to at least hide and let things cool down..then back to that first tower and pick off a few more guys with environmental/explosive kills.

Crept around and played with the silent pistol on a few guys, then remembered not to hang out too long by dead bodies..

...reloaded and remembered reading I could trap body with a mine...did so and enjoyed the double kill as I snuck away.

Got a few melee kills fucking around with rocks and the whistle.

Currently 3/4 dead officers and 3/3 cameras down but in no rush to finish.

Losts of fun so far, maybe 2 hours in

Completed first map today, and half way through second.

The end of map one turned into assassins creed when the npcs AI kept taking them into the bushes I was trying to hide in until the alert went away...

To quote Skyrims Cicero: "Stab stab stab stab"

They were perfectly timed to where I could stab one, with no witness...then the next

Even the main target general decided he needed to investigate why the shrubbery was eating his men...

Definatly coming back for a replay to hit the challenges.

After I finish map 2, I might try my luck and turn off the aim helper.

This game is fun as hell. Highly recommend, the X-ray deaths never get old, and the challenges keep me replaying missions I've beat.

So far this is Tony Hawk 1&2 level of fun for me.

Glad to hear it! Franchise high point. Full stop. Speaking of X-ray cam, have you landed the elusive testicle shot yet?

Only ball shot I got was a non x-ray shoulder fired rifle kill (no scope) as I was hunting that challenge...so definatly going to ahem...shoot for it.

Completed mission 4 last night and did all the challenges on mission 1 (96% complete, need a few more death letters...)

Going to play through mission 2 for challenges next before I move on with the campaign

Fair warning that for some of the letters, they've done a devilishly good job hiding in plain sight. Bring your A-game.

98% on the first mission....still searching

Fucked with a new loadout...based off a youtubers "best of" suggestions

The Carcano is amazing
The Sten's damage upgrade challenge was a bitch. 50m with a smg...
The takorov (sp? I think) is also great, but holy shit I've taken the (my words) whalerods silencer for granted. Using damn near all my slots for silenced ammo as finding in mission is a real problem.
(Saw a few save/reload farming options, but don't like that idea so I do survival to grind challenges)

What's your preferred loadout?

Noticing more armored vehicles in the later missions and maybe I should pack more mines lol.

Working on the gold skins for basic load outs and my "beta" load out above

Beat the Monistary mission and am almost done with the one after.

Yeah, the Carcano has awesome reload speed + accuracy forgiveness with the ROF while the STEN has such a cool look; PPSH more my jam for the slot but kicks like a mule. Sidearm I recall Soviet TT-33 being good. SE4 gives you good weapons relatively early, I think I remember, which is nice where most games unlock the best stuff only in end-game.

On higher difficulties (not sure what you’re playing), I strongly recommend the Mosin specifically paired with something for CC like the Drilling; the STEN in those situations, to compare, will be woefully anaemic and you’ll be overrun.

I also always ran trip mines (any difficulty) because I like booby-trapping ingress if SHTF and I predict reinforcements will arrive. Remember too for sidearms that you don’t have to run Welrod for stealth and can use subsonic ammo on better pistols but that true to form, it’s only ever sound suppression as there’s no such thing as a de facto ‘silenced’ weapon. In Authentic, for example, you have to mask even subsonic shots to throw your general location.

Gold skins are a must! Awesome you’re working on that. Feels so good to infil looking dapper AF.
