Aldo Alvarez Poirier Holloway Mendes Diaz Cerrone shields Fitch Diaz Hughes Penn Condit Bisping IMO the first list of fighters beaten is far more impressive than the second list...Aldo is easily the most elite win to have out of those 14 names. Discuss
This. Conor has zero title defenses. Not to mention it's much easier to steal the title away then it is to defend it. GSPs resume easily better when you factor in his string of defenses.
Sure, but context is needed. GSP beat all those guys in their prime while defending his title. Conor beat Poirier and Holloway before their primes, and Cowboy after. So as a whole, GSP's list is more impressive IMO. But yeah Aldo is the best win out of all of them, I'll give you that.
Title defenses has nothing to do with the question People can't keep it 100 Gotta change the question and shit
Shields was on a 15 fights win streak (including Hendo, Lawler, Condit, Okami, Menne) Fitch was on a 17 fights wins streak Nick > Nate Hughes and Penn were champ Bisping was an upper weight class and after a 4 yrs layoffs.
Aldo - great win, legit top win over the greatest FW ever Alveraz - He's probably the worst champ in history Poirier - was top 15 at the time but nothing compared to what he is at LW Holloway - Extremely green Mendes - Very solid win but the short notice was a huge knock on performance Diaz - Good win but no champion level fighter has lost to him during their prime Cerrone - same thing as Diaz Shields - top 5 and just beat Hendo at MW (easy style match up but as legit as they come) Fitch - #2 ww and insane win streak before GSP ended it Diaz - Same thing as Cerrone and Nate Hughes - was arguably the greatest ww of all time at the time Penn - Undersized but one of the top P4P fighter at the time Condit - was a legit interim champ and was beating everybody who wasn't GSP Bisping - Honestly looked great against Rockhold but clearly fell out of prime in his Hendo fight. would rate this at about the same as the Alveraz fight. GSP has far more impressive fight History and wins over more legit opponents at the time of their fights.
both have what? 26ish fights? GSP has a list of "Who's Who", were as Mcgregor, save for a few has a list of "Who's that?" and as said above how many title defenses against the cream of the crop has McGregor had???
I might dispute that Aldo is the most elite win. Hughes was the WW GOAT before GSP. At the time that GSP beat Fitch, Fitch looked unstoppable. He was on a 16 fight win streak (8 in the UFC). I put the 2nd list well ahead of the first. Hughes = Aldo Fitch >> Alvarez Shields = Poirier Diaz = Diaz (LOL) Penn > Holloway Condit = Cerrone Bisping < Mendes
Other than Aldo GSP resume crushes Conor resume, context is very important in this kind of discussion
One guy knocked the fook out of all his opponents in like 30 minutes combined. The other dry humped the life out of each and every opponent for like 7 hours of fight time.
Moving the goal post is a dead giveaway of someone who can’t defend their opinion logically. that’s for sure
