I am a white belt in my BJJ class and My Gi has gotten a bit to small for me it is an A1. Which Gi should I get? I was looking at the Vulkan ultra light. It costs around $160. Is there any other Gi that I can get at around the same price but better quality?

Advice on your build ( height and weight ) is helpful as most kimonos have a different fit to them. I'm 6'1, 165 pounds and my A2 koral light fits amazing and I love it. I know a few people that have koral gis and they swear by them. It's all personal preference really. korals and keiko racas are more for a slender tall build like mine. I know a lot of people wear atama single weaves too. Also just see if you can try on your fellow classmates uniforms and see how they feel and fit on you!

OMG where do you begin?

If you like the Vulkan, it's a damn good gi. I have two!
But a UK brand that I've had the opportunity to review is very very close to it - made by Tatami fightwear, it's called the Zero G and they can ship to you for 85GBP including shipping.

See my review of their black coloured model:
MEERKATSU: Gi Review: Tatami Fightwear Zero G Black v New navy gi

Here's the link to their store (say I sent you!):
Tatami Fightwear - Zero G Worldwide - FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE

But also check out all the reviews on Sherdog to get a flavour of the market and what folk think of their gis. Oh yeah here are a bunch of other reviews I did too:

Good luck, happy training!

what is your build? im 5'8 145 with long arms, and have an a1 tatami navy gi (same cut as zero g). if your body is anything like mine, i wouldn't recommend the gi. the collar is very thin but stiff, and it ends up pushing into your neck and being very uncomfortable. and you can do better then atama for the price. i think you should try a Fushida Komodo or get a $70 fuji victory gi they are both slim and cut very well. you should shop around and try on other peoples gi's before class. a properly tailored gi should provide a snug fit while maintaining full range of motion with minimal resistance.

I am pretty sure I am 5'6 maybe 5'7. I weigh 126 with gi. I have an athletic body type. My arms are normal length I guess >.>

Thanks for all the feedback. I have decided that I really like the vulkan ultra light because I like how comfortable it is. Also that it is the lightest gi in the market. I also like the logo looks cool. I plan to get that Tatami fightgear navy pearl weave next. Once again thanks for the feedback.

the next batch of shoyorolls go on sale this friday -- check the main GE forum for details. but for your price range it's a great gi.

Wait until Friday to order it, they may reduce the price on their site (or at least budovideos will be 15% off).

If you can hold off, this weekend you should be able to get some good deals.
Last year, Vulkan was running a sale on their site, and you could get a Pro Light model for 99.00. They usually run $170+.

Atama also was running sales where you could get a gi, shipped for around $120.

I have gone through about 10 gis and have posted reviews on most of them.
I own/ed and rolled in: Ki International, Sfjam Noris, Padilla and Sons, Atama, Keiko, Shoyoroll, Vulkan, MKimonos and Ronin Brand

My favorites, based mainly on fit have been: Atama, Ronin Brand and MKimonos.

The problem, for me, is that I am between sizes. Tall an lanky. 6 feet and 160lbs, which means I fall under A2 for weight and A3 for height, which usually results in either baggy or short gis.

My best fitting gis are Atama double weave(A3)and Ronin Brand(A2).

The Vulkan Pro light in A2 has a ton of room in the upper body for me. I would say that I could gain another 30-40 pounds and that gi would still be ok.

If you are serious about the sport, you will end up trying different brands. That is what I ended up doing.
My biggest thing is fit and considering that all the companies are primarily online, finding a great fitting gi is fairly hard, unless you don't mind shelling out for return shipping and losing out on the original shipping charge.
