Which franchise is the best, Star Wars or MCU?

This question is probably moot since Captain Marvel is all about Rey snapping in mirrors, or so I am told...

if you can stop at the first three star wars movies made, the answer is star wars. if you include anything else, it is easily marvel

Disney announced a deal to acquire Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion, with approximately half in cash and half in shares of Disney stock.

bought Marvel for $4 billion in 2009,

Star Wars by a hair, that hair being 50 million

Star Wars. Not even close.

Star Wars pre-Disney buyout

The EU was well done even with the iffy prequels.

When picking franchises you cannot dissect shitty movies from their franchise and pretend they don't exist. So TLJ is in the discussion as well as Thor Dark World.

Overall, MCU win because Star Wars had more shitty movies in it.

Gotta include hulk and the iron man with the wrestler too lol.

People talk about “burn out “ with how many sw movies they have done lately.

What they don’t mention is mcu has had at least two movies a year, and sometimes 3 with 2010 bejngthe only exception with just an iron man movie.

I am only using 1 from each franchise as an example. IMO Star Wars Ep 456 were great, 3 and 7 were good, the rest were terrible.

Grew up with SW - loved it so much - now as I watch it with my son through adult eyes, I realize how fucking retarded SW actually is.

MCU movies have me creaming my pants.

MCU ftw

STAR WARS = great songwriting

MCU = the Led Zeppelin of cover bands

Star Wars by light years.

The MCU only exists thanks to Star Wars. It's the child of an industry born from a transformation Star Wars precipitated.

Star Wars has the best movie (ESB).

But as an overall franchise, the MCU is killing it. Even their "worst" movies are actually pretty good, just not really good/great like their others. Star Wars has a couple movies that are okay at best.

MCU, because aside from one or two misses they’re pretty consistent. On the other hand besides the original trilogy for star wars I haven’t cared for the rest.

Starwars has mostly either been excellent(the originals and Rogue One) or crap(the prequels and sequels), Solo is just about the only "ok" film in the franchise for me. Marvel on the other hand has I think specialised in "ok" a lot of the time and whilst it has had some great entries I don't think there on the level of something like Empire Strikes Back.

This thread is so 2016, when SW fans were generally pretty excited about the future LOL.

I guess my answer is obvious.

But The Empire Strikes Back is the best movie of all of them..such a lightning in a bottle sc-fi fantasy movie. On paper Irvin Kerschner was not really the type of guy to direct a SW movie, but somehow it worked out great.

MCU has surprised me by getting better with each phase. I thought Avengers 1 would be the peak of its popularity. Russo brothers did something I thought was impossible in Infinity War. I thought the movie would be divisive. I thought it would be a clusterfuck and a complete mess given that it had to juggle around so many characters. But I left the theater happy. I was thinking "Ok, this is how I should have felt after TLJ"

I'll take the OT + ROTS over anything in Marvel's entire catalog with maybe the exception of the first Guardians Movie. The problem is the ST and the other movies drag down Star Wars quite a bit. I find Marvel to extremely formulaic and bland, I only think a few of their movies are great, but at the same time I only think a few of them are shitty. Most are just decent but they are pretty to look at. I'd never feel the need to watch them again like I do with the Star Wars OT or LOTR Trilogy.

So going Star Wars overall because the higher highs. Although right now Marvel is clearly better with their current content.
