The word on the street is that the UFC is going out of their way to sign flyweight champions from other organizations to compete on TUF 24 (which is why they canceled tryouts).
Then, we find out that Wilson Reis (who's 1-1 in his last two; Jussier da Silva had a better claim to a fight with Johnson even coming off of a split decision loss to Henry Cejudo, IMO) is basically gifted a title shot because the flyweight division is so depleted.
I've put together a bit of a list of who I think should be on the show, and am wondering if there are any other suggestions from the regional flyweight scene.
Some of the more notable names:
- Kairat Akhmetov (23-0, ONE Flyweight Champion)
- Adriano Moraes (14-2, Former ONE Flyweight Champion)
- Yasuhiro Urushitani (21-7, Former Shooto Bantamweight Champion)
- Magomed Bibulatov (11-0, WSOF Flyweight Champion)
- Tim Elliott (13-6-1, Titan FC Flyweight Champion)
- Alexandre Pantoja (16-2, RFA and Legacy Flyweight Champion)
- Bruno Menezes (16-5, Jungle Fight Flyweight Champion)
- Pietro Menga (12-0, FCC European Flyweight Champion)
Anyone else I missed?
