Not due to hate and not necessarily due to technical skills; bur rather you just know (due to instinct, experience or whatever) that they are not what they seem to be and/or what people is saying.

My no. 1 is Michael Page. Honestly I just know the guy will f** suck if he fights a more complete fighter. Plus his first boxing fight was against a 2-13 boxer.

A lot of people still don't comprehend the intense effort and skill it takes just to get to the UFC.

Sure, not every single fighter in the UFC is elite, especially locals on the smaller shows. But if you can become a UFC regular and get some wins, you're legit.

many moons ago, Sean Gannon. he was a cop who took on Kimbo and won (or cheated, depending on who you ask), back when Kimbo was only an underground and youtube sensation. this was pre-TUF, mind you. so UFC gave Sean a try. lots of sherdoggers thought he had a chance.

how did Randy Couture's son end up doing? looks like he's doing just fine for a middle tier Bellator fighter. but he's not hyped anymore, see.

Dude was getting tagged by fat, mini Hendricks more than he should have and his two best wins are current MW Hendricks and Bamgbose. Yet he's being hyped as the next big thing at MW.

He'll get decently far due to the UFC pushing him fast and possibly giving him good matchups. But most likely he'll go the way of the rest of these hype jobs. His insane cutting won't do his cardio any favors either.

the funny thing is, people tend to blame the UFC for 'hype', even though the fans eagerly soak it in. it's akin to saying:
