So did some research and found out which division’s ranked fighters were the most and least active. I looked at the period of July 2020 through July 2021. I counted fights that are still scheduled through the end of this month. I did not count fights when a fighter fought in a weight division they were not ranked in. And yes, I had nothing better to do, I work a slow job with a lot of downtime so this was a good time waster. Here’s the weight classes and how many fights each fighter had. There’s likely some errors somewhere so let me know if you see one.

Nice thread TS. Yep it seems MW has the most active ranked fighters. Kelvin has been stepping up on short notice fights. Vettori has managed to stay healthy and active. Till was supposed to have some fights but got cancelled due to injuries and Costa was about to fight but postponed it due to his hair transplant.

Did your Boss review this "work" -- before it was released to Sherdog?

Boss only pops in like twice a year haha. So no, not peer reviewed therefore doesn’t meet Sherdog forum’s high standard of integrity. So should be ignored by everyone.

Izzy seems to be a very active fighter and champ. Twice already this year. Twice during the pandemic. Three times in 19. Four times in 18. He has an insane amount of pro fights and appears to be extremely durable and recovers fast. Reminds me of Anderson Silva (pre leg break) with his durability.

Stipe was the most active HW since Sylvia until the DC / Brock debacle. That's when he learned loyalty means shit in this business, and decided to fight on his timetable.

Some resent him for it. I have a hard time blaming him.

    Nice data TS, thanks.

For sure. Stipe was done pretty dirty by the UFC. Fought everyone. Fought often. Beat everyone. But didn’t treat people like shit to get fans. Dana couldn’t wait to get him out of there. Reminds me of how they did Aldo.

What does Yair have over the UFC? You'd a thought they would've cut him by now.

Stipe and the UFC were cool until DC beat him. Then Stipe had a hissy fit because the UFC wanted to move forward with Brock vs DC.

Here's my issue with Stipe. Stipe knew ahead of time Brock was going to attend. That was planned and not some spontaneous thing. If Stipe would've won a back and forth spilt decision battle do you think Stipe would've said "hold on. I barely beat DC and think he deserves a rematch. Brock is going to have to wait." to the UFC? DC just knocked out Stipe in the first round and Brock is in the cage shoving him across the ring. The UFC has to move forward with that. Stipe knows that.

Where I think Stipe got kinda screwed was the Lewis vs DC fight. But I hold DC more at fault for that than anything. DC is the one who said he needed a full camp to fight Stipe again. He said the UFC paid him a truckload worth of money ($4 mil) and he said he really didn't need a camp to fight Lewis (super dig at Lewis imo). If DC would've said yeah give me Stipe who knows what would've happened.

    Very nice, OP.

Ladd was scheduled to fight but her opponent just recently became injured.

Nice research, but I would argue one thing. You should count in the fact there are way more LW's than Heavyweights.

What would be the relevance of that? This was just looking at the top 15 so numbers are completely the same for every weight class.

I had a look at this except the top 20 and how often they will be fighting. I noticed the mass of cheap women fights and ranks 50 or 100+. Every top 20 list had 2 or 3 fights out of 40 ppl. Some divisions worse then others. MENS WW was a lot. Women ranks fight more

Maybe, but HW is the division the UFC's favourite division. They want to book HW's more than lets say MW's. But since there are fewer HW's under contract, it's somewhat logical the ranked guys get to fight relatively more
