In order to claim a country, you should have actual ethnic ties to that country, or at least some deep historical roots. A couple years ago people tried to call Khamzat Swedish, and now I guess he’s living in UAE. The man is Chechen, technically Russian (like Khabib) and nothing else.

The crazy thing is they don't even have Pantoja the UFC champion in that Brazil picture, which is weird, but I rate him highly, he is so good and underrated, most people are overrated these days and haven't done a lot to be fair, but he is one of the rare fighters that are so underrated, he is so skilled. He's had more UFC title fights than all of them on that picture except Jones obviously

Brazil has more champs and more ranked fighters than russia. Brazil has 16 ranked fighters right now. Russia has 13. How is Russia the one with more overall quality?

I suppose that's one way of looking at it. Another would be that Russia is top heavy with their talent, and even then couldn't get more champs than brazil.

Things could change real quick though with Ankalaev vs. Poatan
