Which Controller Was Better? PS4 vs PS5

Was curious about the general consensus of which controller is 'better.'

I own a PS4 and consider its controller to be the GOAT. Is the PS5's actually an improvement?

The Dualshock 4 is probably my favorite controller ever. Wasn't until I tried playing fighting games with the Dualsense when I realized how much I prefer the Dualshock 4.

PS4 controller is somehow easier to use on PC- that's the only thing it has over PS5 controller IMO

PS5 controller is more comfortable to hold, has better rumble/feedback and I think it's built better overall. The PS4 controller feels cheap in comparison.

DualSense is superior in every way except for hold, which I found better with DualShock. I use grips on my DualSenses and Edge to fatten handles and increase friction, which all results in a better feel for me.

I liked PS4 better from an ergonomics point of view but I haven't played many PS5 games to experience all of the new features. I just don't like the bulk of the new controller and the glassy feeling d-pad. PS4 was more comfortable to me.

Never like the dual shock controllers. They never felt right in my mitts, and I would get a cramp after just a short time playing. Always the downside of PS for me. Though the PS5's controller is world's better for my hands in an ergonomic sense. It is much closer to the Xbox's, and they never gave me cramps at all.

Ps5 by far. Having said that all my ps4 controllers work perfectly. I had one ps5 controller with trigger issues and one with drift issues so in that regard ps4 wins

Newish PS4 controller started having crazy involuntary D pad presses where I press down and it presses up, up, up. Tried to open it and remove any dust under the D pad and couldn't even open it. Did they start gluing the two main pieces? Could barely open a narrow gap in the handles.

Features - Dual Sense

Looks - Dual shock 4 , every time they come out with a new limited edition version of the Dual sense (Apart from the 30th anniversary one) they just look more and more tacky to me, the only version I've really liked is the Midnight Black colour

This. It’s not surprising considering all the features the controller has. It burns battery juice like crazy at times.

I hated the Dualshock controllers for years and preferred the Xbox 360 controller overall. When the Dualshock 4 came out, it was absolutely fantastic and took over my favorite controller. The PS5 Duel sense is pretty great functionality but not as comfortable.


Currently using the Dual Sense Edge for PC gaming I'm really happy with it, but dual shock 4 had the ergonomics.

lol at nobody mentioning the joystick drift in the dual sense. It’s happened to almost everybody . Dual sense is still the best though hehe.
