simple enough question, most of us have a certain base we started from and a certain skillset or range of tools/skills we used eff; i want to know where have you improved, regressed or stayed the same in regards to your skills and striking ability. I would expect people who train to fight pro/ammy, to have much more progress and development in regards to the nature of what they do; an not be able to have the luxury of falling off or staying pat in another area because of the fact they competing against skilled and conditioned competitors. But for the rest of us who don't usually we have noticeable improvements, or lack thereof if not an actual regression in skills/ability.

Also what do you feel resulted in your tech/physical growth, lack of growth, or decline...

anyone

I found that my clinch striking got much better. I'm ground based so all the clinch I worked gave me a good fell of what my opponent was doing which really helped my timing in regards to strikes. 99% of my clinches I'll be working towards a td but I find that wrestling experience really helps me throw big knees to the midsection and dirty boxing when I get an opening because of the feel you get.

I think more grapplers should develop their clinch striking so they can mix it up in the clinh and so the opponent isn't just defending the TD.

Saying that my standup is still useless and and I need to say that I need to improve alot more than I have improved.

I started off submission grappling and just hitting pads for the first year, the gym was infested with highschool/college wrestlers so I had to learn fast to keep up. Years later... I'm frequently mistaken for someone who wrestled in highschool, although I never did.

With only a year of training I'm still climbing the 'improvement' hill.
Best thing has been I'm not having to pause and think "what do I do now?"
in attack and defend situations. It's like my body is reacting ahead of my mind
to preserve itself.

Oh and finally getting some cardio fitness has been a godsend.

head movement. Having some confidense in my head movement, made me a lot more willing to mix it up.

After my landing my fist punch in my first fight, confidence. I was incredibly nervous the whole day until I landed my first punch. My opponet threw a left kick, I caught it, threw a straight right counter, knocked him down, and I became relaxed.
