It's gotta be at or near the top.

Great fights with a lot of back and forth momentum swings, a good mix of striking and grappling, both dudes in fantastic shape and -prepared, plus you have a great underdog story.

The only drawback was that 2 of the fights went to a decision, and maybe the first fight wasn't that close.

Which trilogies top it?

The second fight alone, with the comeback, KO of the year. Dave Lovell's corner speech, and Leon's post fight speech have to put it near the very top surely.

- Edgar vs Maynard
- Volk vs Max
- Cain vs JDS
- Rampage vs Wanderlei
- Chandler vs Eddie (I believe they’ll sign Eddie for Chandlers retirement fight to do a trilogy)

It's high up there in my opinion. I think I put Maynard/Edgar at #1. If we're talking strictly UFC, Usman/Edwards is definitely on the short list for best trilogies though if you ask me -- I think I'd put it ahead of any other trilogy, but it goes down to personal taste.

I have it the same I think.

1- Edgar/Maynard
2- Usman/Edwards

Solid meh. Sure, high level fight between two excellent fighters... but not a lot of excitement. You won't be showing any MMA newbie any of the fights between Usman and Edwards.

Good trilogy. Not too memorable honestly, the headkick from the second fight is the shining moment.
You’ve got plenty of others that are way more exciting.
Like poster said above,
Fig/Moreno, Edgar/Maynard Stipe/Cormier etc.

If we are being honest, those fights don't really belong in the same breath from an entertainment standpoint.
Sure. I just mean drama in general is pretty similar across both. I think the quality of fights is what puts Edgar/Maynard top. The first fight was a stinker but 2 and 3 were both FOTY candidates.

Doesn't make my top 5.

In no particular order, they are: BJ Penn and Matt Hughes, Gray Maynard and Frankie Edgar, Chuck Liddell and Randy Couture, GSP and Hughes, and finally Tito Ortiz and Ken Shamrock, because watched him get KO'd never stopped being entertaining.

It's at the BOTTOM! The BOTTOM! These guys have no CHARISMA! They don't capture the IMAGINATION! They don't capture the ATTENTION of the PUBLIC!

On athletic merit, it is top 3. Usman was one win shy of the UFC record for consecutive wins for their second fight and Leon was on like a 10 fight streak or something.

It isn't near the top if you're applying pro wrestling standards. UFC is too sanitized these days and both guys lack charisma.

Low for me, of the three only one was good and that was the second one, if leon doesn’t land that headkick they all were not great.

First fight Usman dominated.
Second fight Usman dominated until getting slept.
Third fight Usman looked like a shell of himself when he was in his prime.

Not very high.

In terms of excitement, outside of one historically great strike, they've fought 13 relatively uneventful rounds. And in terms of level of competition, they were both one-dimensional neophytes in their first fight, and Usman looked like a shell of his former self in the third fight.
