You’re right about the haters. Man, have I gathered a lot of them over the years. As evidenced by this thread, I made one fairly innocuous comment about athletes making more than doctors and instantly, someone was on me. I get tagged more than their mothers at a drive-in. Honestly, I think it has to do with my former profession more than anything else because I used to be respectful even when disrespected because I felt like I was one of the few repping law enforcement so I didn’t want to make the profession look bad. Since retiring, I simply don’t care anymore and I push back when someone runs their mouth. They feel all big and bad running their mouth to a cop because they can’t do it irl. It’s some real baby-back-bitch shit, but mostly, it amuses me anymore.

I have my youngest in private school now, plus a hefty mortgage and other bills and it can be tight the first half of the month u to my pension check gets here, then we have so breathing room for a few weeks.

The ridiculous purses in boxing make me ill. My dad was a neurologist and in the 80s, was one of the premier ones in the eastern half of the country. He made a pittance of what professional athletes make. It always baffled me that pro sports make so much money while doctors make a couple hundred thousand. It’s pathetic where we put our priorities in this country.

Your dad was a great man but he doesn’t provide his value at scale. It’s just the name of the game. There is only so many people one can heal where as the enjoyment generated from the athlete affects hundreds of millions if not billions thus the big pay cheque.
