Where did the 'UFC keeps 40% of Reebok' come from?

In advance, I think the implication of the deal sucked & Dana acted like a tool on the recent video

But I see people quoting that 40% figure & it does not add up

Quick math:
UFC had 47 fights in 2014 & sched 45 for 2015
That is about 250k per event
They have about 20-24 fighters per event
That is roughly $10-12k per fighter
With payouts from $2,500 to $40,000 per, that is within a realistic % to give - nowhere near 40%

A card with one title fight has $180k (after the main event) to be split between 22 fighters - that is an average of $8k per fighter

If they have 20 title fights per year, that is about $8.4 million of the $70m (not counting if there is escalating payouts)
That leaves $61.6 million or roughly $10m per year for about 460-500 fights

No idea where the 40% came from. Whomever started that, must have made a mistake

Who's getting $40k, just the champions and challengers..

I Worked out the last two numbered events and it was pretty low..

ok, heres what i worked out for the last two events. (one fight night, one numbered)

100k for fight night, 200k for numbered, and I included all Pride and WEC but theres claims not all of those will be accounted for

Just going through last nights event, and the previous event (UFC 186)

So looks like about 100k for a Fight Night card on the whole and about double that for Numbered events.

The $2500 fighters are being screwed though, they could definately make more than that on personal sponsorship especially when you consider personal is not just for the fight but for weigh ins, media events in teh week before. Personally i think the 0-5 guys should be able to opt out of the Reebok deal

Add another 50k or so to numbered events with two title matches

thanks man
Your figures on a small fight night & the lowest PPV of UFC's history come to about 60%

90% of the cards will pay more
If you look at my figures the numbers are a lot more realistic
But props to you for going through all those fighters lol

Yeh, I just went through the two most recent just out of interest. Things will change as fighters gain more experience, for instance there will be a sudden increase in 18 months when the TUF women hit the 5 fight threshold.

That said, of the 45 events a year, I think only the 12 numbered events will hit the $250k mark, I think the Fight nights will consistently be around the 75k to 150k mark, lack of title fights being the big factor.

But short of someone going through a year worth of fights to calculate it its hard to say.

Once the reebok deal starts im sure someone will measure it on a fight by fight basis.

I would bet my life they will
Also I would think that they would do a small cost of living bump each year (like a lot of deals)

Again good job going through 40+ fighters man lol

But my point is valid that it will not be 40% to UFC
For full payout, it will be roughly an average of $10-12k per fighter, per event

Pretty difficult to predict future payouts. Some fighters are going to keep getting fights and moving up the ladder, others will only pop into the UFC for a couple of fights. Some guys only fight 2xyear, they aren't ever going to bump up in reebok pay.
