I'm fascinated by cases where a fighter faces his biggest challenge and rans through it with less efforts than against inferior competition. They are ready, it's their time and they do the impossible while barely breaking a sweat.

Holm vs Ronda, Nunes vs Rousey and Cyborg, Conor vs Aldo, Bisping vs Rockhold II, JDS vs Cain I... Those top fights are the quickest wins of their UFC career (second fastest for JDS). Do you have other examples?

I didn't think Nunes was gonna starch Cyborg like that. She became the GOAT of WMMA that night.

Silva vs Franklin, their 1st fight, I knew Silva was really good and his debut against Leben was awesome but Franklin was so well rounded and good too, and I thought it would be a really close fight, I couldn't believe how easily and fast he put Franklin away, it was a slaughter.

Before the fight a lot of people were predicting that Izzy can't handle the pressure and power of jacked Ricky Martin.

Dillashaw ran through one of the top P4P fighters in Barao not once, but twice

Not the toughest opponent, but Mickey Gall will never receive the same attention as when he steamrolled CM Punk

Shit I'd even argue Vitor and Forrest were both better than Rich (and beat him).

I guess the crazy thing here we can both agree on, is that Anderson Silva has a propensity for making really good fighters look foolish.

    Vitor
    Rich
    Forrest
    Leben
    Okami

    These guys got smoked.

Rich I feel is getting underrated as time goes by.

Both Silva fights were very poor game planning. Not saying Rich would have won with any plan, just that both fights were very poorly planned.

I blame Jorge Gurgel (Rich's coach) who despite being a BJJ Black belt, was a brawler himself in just about every single pro fight of his.

I can forgive a bad plan for the first fight - Rich was a quality striker and a lefty too. He thought he could stand with anybody at 185.

Although most experts knew Silva was on another planet with his striking (just look at what he did to Leben), Rich at the time felt he was stronger in the clinch. Wrong, Silva was a freak and far better Muay Thai practitioner.

    Learn from your mistakes, right?

    WRONG

After the destruction of the first fight, in the rematch, he should have tried to get the fight to the ground. Plenty of people have taken Silva down. But nope, Rich was content to strike with Silva AGAIN.

    TKOd AGAIN.

Rich was SNEAKY GOOD and SLICK on the ground. Too bad he didn't at least try to get the fight to the ground.

Again, not saying he would have won, just that he should have tried a different gameplan.

Nunes and Holm would be favoured each time, probably Conor too. Still, even if you consider that to be just random luck, it's interesting that it would happen right at the most important moment of their career.
