I used to get Optimum Nutrition 100% gold standard or whatever it's called, then switched to EAS 100% whey because it was cheaper and I could get it locally. Optimum nutrition's marketing says that it's supposed to be high quality, unadulterated but then why are there carbs, fat, and cholesterol in it? Same with EAS.

There are other brands which are much more expensive that are micro filtered or something, and supposedly processed at lower temperatures which preserves the quality of the protein...things with "CFM Whey Isolate" in the name. Integrated Supplement's CFM Whey Isolate has no fat, no cholesterol, and 1 carb. It's also just about double the price.

So...what's the real deal? I'm on a budget so EAS protein is appealing because of the price. Am I really losing out by choosing the cheaper whey protein concentrate rather than getting the very best whey?

No big differences in quality. Companies get their whey from the same sources, kind of like American oil.

Source: my Dad owns a couple of nutrition stores, and one of his worker used to be an Optimum Nutrition salesman.

Oh but the differences in quality can be achived by "mixing".

ON probably does have a mixer but not all big brands do. I know SAN doesn't.

ON is owned by glamblia, which is a protein manufacture. They were bought the other year. Go with the cheapest protein that doesn't blow your stomach up and make you crap your brains out.

I used both proteins for awhile, and I cannot tell the difference, same gains while on both. Because of the economy right now I aim for cheaper, I'm using SciVation Whey right now which is $15 cheaper than Optimum if you buy it in 10lbs. I was going to go back to EAS but my Costco doesn't sell them anymore, where do you get yours?
