When fighters pray before a fight, what do you think they pray for?

As a Christian I wouldn't pray to God that I win the fight via beating the shit out of my opponent.. I would pray that no one gets hurts, me or my opponent. I don't want a Tim Hague situation where a family man gets killed after a fight. I would feel awful and never want to fight again if I killed someone. But I would know the risks. Lots of fighters are religious... a lot of times you'll have believer vs believer in any faith. Does god have more favor over so and so than he does for You? And so forth. Then some fighters take the loss well as a sign from god. It's weird. For me, my prayers are no one gets permanently hurt or worse. (Dies)

Not to shit themselves while losing conciousness due to choke on tv?

Kimo walked out carrying a cross on his back and still lost to Royce.

Please Lord allow me to cause long term trauma to that other man's brain, or Thy willing, let that the bone of his arm be broken by my strength and technique.

Lol
Praying before a fight.

Lol
Thanking ‘god’ after a fight.

I would probably be praying for me to win, on the off chance that it would make God realize that I deserved it more than my opponent.

Oh Lord thank you for the testosterone you have given me.

" I dont normally do this, but if you are up there, PLEASE save me Superman"

better chance of that actually working...

Some probably pray to the porcelain god because their nerves are shot

I believe they're praying for two things:

1. that they may do the best that their potential possibly allows;
2. that God's perfect will for both fighters be manifest.

Of course, I know I'm the only one seriously answering this thread.

I grew up believing you don't pray for victory. Instead pray that I'd be able to compete at my best and that I along with others would be free of injury. Now in the fight game you may have to very well inflict injury to get to a win. Each person is different and sometimes the prayer may not have anything to do with what is about to happen.

Please god, don't let me get my teeth kicked in

My Lord and Savior, please let the fight night blood test come back negative.
