In light of all these ducking accusations regarding a potential Spence/Crawford fight. Can you guys remember times where a fighter blatantly ducked another fighter ?

Most stories about ducking are exaggerated. Fighters don’t mind fighting, that’s what they do provided the payday is good enough.

Bowe literally threw his WBC belt in a dumpster to avoid fighting Lewis. This has to count.

True on both counts, although I heard that there was more to Bowe-Lewis. I can't recall, but my understanding is there was at least a point where Bowe seriously wanted the fight but didn't get it for whatever reason.

Bowe signed to fight Holyfield with an agreement to fight the winner of the Ruddock-Lewis fight, he was all mouth and didnt want anything to do with Lewis at all

Good point. I dont think ducking has to mean theyre scared of fighting. Id largely say its a business approach.

Some "ducks" make sense... If you have the chance to fight an equal or better fighter for more money by all means go ahead and duck. Or if another good fight puts you in a better position to negotiate for a bigger fight fair play.

Definitely Khan with Brook, the prospect of losing to Brook terrified Khan.

I'm not big on people saying someone ducked someone when they fought someone better instead.

Like Canelo giving his belt up and dropping divisions to fight Liam Smith instead of GGG at first

I mean not really. If it went to purse bid it would’ve been a 75/25 split for Canelo. Maybe the waiting game helped business by the constant talking of it

Tyson ducked Lennox and Holyfield too and took like 5-6 years to fight each of them

Thats not comparable. GGG and Canelo fought relatively close enough to their primes and they fought twice.
